The war in Helldivers 2 took a new turn with the annihilation of the robots, but now players fear that something terrible is coming.
What happened to the annihilated faction? In recent days, the general order “Operation: Swift Disassembly” required the Helldivers to liberate the last remaining planets controlled by the robots and to annihilate the Automaton Legion completely.
Throughout the weekend, the brave soldiers of the Über-Earth fought the decisive battles against the robots – successfully. The mechanical opponents of democracy were defeated.
On the evening of April 7, the development studio announced on X.com: “You did it, Helldivers. Operation Swift Disassembly was a success! After the bots were annihilated and the bugs contained, the galaxy is free again.”

Players sense that something terrible is about to follow
These are the players’ concerns: Many players are celebrating the success of the Über-Earth on social networks, but some also fear that something evil is following. The user “SiccSemperTyrannis” writes in an ironic comment on Reddit: “I am 100% sure that nothing bad will happen and everything will be fine.”
Other users are much more direct in their fears:

- CardiologistRoyal79: on Reddit: “Of course, this is not the end of the automatons or the bugs. But something tells me that everything is going to get completely crazy soon.”
Some players also have very concrete ideas about what could follow soon. Some suspect that the Illuminati – a hostile faction from Helldivers 1 and a highly developed alien civilization – might soon intervene in the galactic war. In the past, players have already found clues about the intervention of a new enemy faction in Helldivers 2.
The user Foxgguy2001 is already imagining horror movie-like scenarios on Reddit: “If we get something like Xenomorphs or any kind of expedition horror, then damn democracy, I won’t play that.”
Two factions from Helldivers 1 are conceivable
What happens next? As in the predecessor, Helldivers 2 revolves around the galactic war that the Über-Earth is waging against the various factions of the universe. This war will never end, as the ambitions of the Über-Earth are great and the enemies of democracy are relentless.
We already have a new general order in Helldivers 2 that will definitely lead to a new catastrophe: The Über-Earth is starting the expansion of new E-710 farms, where terminids will be bred and enriched with state-of-the-art food additives. So, further outbreaks of the bugs could be imminent, possibly even with new enemy types.
Additionally, the emergence of a new, third faction is still expected. The arrival of the Illuminati is still conceivable, but the existence of the cyborgs – another faction from Helldivers 1 – cannot be completely ruled out yet.
As early as February, a Helldiver speculated that the cyborgs might be the “masters” of the robots and that the two factions want to unite on a particular planet: Players of Helldivers 2 believe they have discovered the goal of the robots – and it is not the Über-Earth
