Raid bosses are currently completely missing in Borderlands 3. Clever players have already found hints about where a Varkid raid boss might appear. Now they are just waiting for the release and for a mysterious door at Ascension Bluff to open.
This is the situation: Many players have now completed the campaign of Borderlands 3 and are engaging in various endgame activities.
In True Vault Hunter Mode up to Mayhem level 3, players can make the game increasingly difficult and be overwhelmed with additional loot. During this, bosses are primarily defeated repeatedly.
However, a special type of boss is completely missing in Borderlands 3: raid bosses.
Are you still looking for a specific legendary weapon? Here is the complete list.
Will there be raid bosses? The fact that no raid boss is currently accessible in the game makes some fans unhappy. However, it seems unquestionable that raid bosses are definitely planned for Borderlands 3.
After all, they are an integral part of the series and are among the coolest challenges that can be tackled with a few friends. Not to mention that they always have extremely exciting loot.
Korilax the Invincible could be the first boss
These hints of raid bosses already exist: Even though no raid boss is currently accessible in the game, it seems clear that raid bosses will come eventually.
Data miners have already found numerous hints. It seems likely that there will be a Varkid boss named “Korilax the Invincible”. The name appears only briefly and is mentioned by Sir Hammerlock.
Hammerlock is known for having connections to (almost) all raid bosses in the past.
Additionally, there were already some images before the release of Borderlands 3 showing players fighting a huge Varkid at a specific location. The boss cannot currently be found in the game – but the location can.
The location is “Ascension Bluff”, an arena that is currently not accessible to most players and can only be entered with a few tricks.
In fact, nothing is currently spawning in the arena, but one can already see a “bonus room” that presumably contains the many loot chests after defeating the Varkid.

Additionally, data miners have found a “Varkid Boss” in the game files.
However, the data is still incomplete, so it can be assumed that they will only be deployed with a future patch.
Varkid boss is suspected behind a closed door
This is the current status: YouTuber Glitching Queen has extensively engaged with the topic and has tried everything to open a mysterious door behind which she suspects the Varkid raid boss.
She had the theory that a Badass Varkid could open the door by ramming its head against it. But experiments in this direction were unsuccessful. Although surely some Varkids were injured – so there was a small success after all.
Glitching Queen and the players will probably have to wait until the boss, which was already seen in preview videos, is patched into the game and the mysterious door opens.
Players are definitely eager for new content and would like to slowly tackle the first raid boss.
