Some skip the credits as soon as they finish the story of a game, while others let them run, hoping for secret end scenes. In Diablo 4, those who show perseverance are rewarded. But who or what is shown in the scene?
What is shown in the scene? In a YouTube video, the user AnActualSadTaco shows a “secret end scene” that appeared to him after the credits of Diablo 4. For about 2 seconds, a demonic figure can be seen.
The demon has glowing eyes and huge horns that protrude sideways from its head. It seems to emerge from a lava-like liquid.

Mephisto, Lucion or Lilith?
Who do we see in the scene? This has not been clarified yet, but there are numerous speculations on social media. Several users comment under the YouTube video of AnActualSadTaco.
Some suspect that it could be Mephisto, the father of Lilith, our antagonist in Diablo 4 – and the character whose choice of clothing is being discussed. Others argue that it cannot be Mephisto, as his horns look completely different and it is too early for a return.
- andrewspencer7804 writes: “The horns belong to Lucion. We are on a mission to completely tear apart the ‘family of hate’.”
- TLim-mr7ro writes: “Lucion, the son of Mephisto and the brother of Lilith. He served as the leader of the Triune during the Sin War and resembles Mephisto. […] I think it’s still too early for Mephisto’s return.”
- truthmachine6382 suspects that the daughter of hate is behind this: “Honestly, it looks more like a close-up of Lilith’s face emerging from the blood-like lava liquid. Those are not Mephisto’s horns, and the eyes, nose, and what resembles a side cheek horn pattern is 1 to 1 Lilith.”
It could also be Inarius, Lilith’s partner in crime with whom she created the new world Sanctuary. This theory would be an interesting twist and would make Inarius more prominent, which some players in Diablo 4 feel is lacking (via Icy Veins).
Even a return of Lucion, the son of Mephisto and Lilith’s brother, is not ruled out by Icy Veins. He was “erased” by Uldyssian, who had the ability to change things with his will. What exactly happened to Lucion after the erasure is unclear – as is his whereabouts.
Of course, it could also be a completely different, previously unknown demon. Or one that no one has thought of yet.
“Unclear why some do not see the scene”
Does everyone see the scene? In his tweet, Blizzard’s artist Jamir Blanco writes: “It seems that some people are finally noticing that there is a post-credit cutscene in our game…”, behind it is an emote that holds a finger to its mouth and a devil emote. (via Twitter).
In another tweet, Jamir Blanco adds: “Yes, the credits are really long… You can skip them […] It is unclear why some people cannot see the post-credit scene… I will find out for you.”
AnActualSadTaco comments under his YouTube video: “I did not have it the first time [playing through the story].” Some speculate that the short scene after finishing the story may have simply passed them by.
You can replay the credits by clicking on “Contributors” in the (German) menu – however, the end scene will still not play. To experience it, you would need to play through the story again.
By the way, the Diablo chief also advises you to do this, as it is worth it for your progress in the first season.
