The cooperative dungeons for 6-player groups should actually be a fun and rewarding alternative for the heroes from Throne and Liberty who do not always want to experience large battles in the open world. However, frustration is often the case in the endgame instances.
What causes frustration in the dungeons? While the cooperative 6-player instances from the leveling phase are still manageable, there are some tough end bosses waiting for the dungeon teams at level 50. Tough means: If even a few players in the group do not play the mechanics correctly, a wipe is imminent.
Take the Temple of Carnage as an example, which according to Steam achievements has been mastered by only 1.1 percent of all Steam players of Throne and Liberty so far.
- As soon as Rex Chimaerus speaks in another language in the chat, blue chandeliers appear above the combat area.
- A player must use a grappling hook to launch themselves to the chandelier in the center of the room and activate the lever there.
- After that, the players who remained below can catapult themselves to the four pillars in the area to deactivate a latch on each.
- If this is done in time, the boss will stop a otherwise lethal area attack.
For this to work, the six group members must coordinate, designate someone for the chandelier, and play the mechanics correctly so that enough survive to even prevent the lethal area attack.
Here is the launch trailer for Throne and Liberty:
“LvL-50 Dungeons make me want to quit the game”
What does such a run look like in practice? MyMMO had previously discussed in an article that the cooperation and competition in Throne and Liberty still has room for improvement despite the strong foundation. The player’s report from ValkyrieDrake on Reddit emphasizes this.
The player reports that he had enormous fun during the leveling phase of Throne and Liberty. He could hardly wait to reach the endgame and improve there. Together with a friend, he wanted to primarily tackle the dungeons as a tank/healer duo.
The two even take the time to explain mechanics and reasons for the last wipe. However, these attempts are consistently sabotaged because after two or three wipes, someone or several players leave the group. Or because players die to the boss mechanics despite countless attempts and extensive explanations, thus causing the wipe.
ValkyrieDrake’s current conclusion: “LvL-50 dungeons make me want to quit the game.” There are many more comparable reports full of frustration, such as here on Reddit.
How does the community react to the reports? Many players confirm that one should avoid the automated group search for the level-50 dungeons. You can get lucky and (eventually) encounter good players who stay committed until the final boss is down. However, most of the time, frustration is all that awaits.
Much better, according to the tip of many commentators, is to look for like-minded individuals from the start via the manual group search (group bulletin board), meaning:
- for people who are eager to learn a new boss and its mechanics
- for a group where everyone (including oneself) already knows the boss mechanics inside out
Even better is to find an entire guild of like-minded players, as many players mention under the post, since being part of such a community only offers advantages in Throne and Liberty. What are your experiences in the cooperative dungeons of the MMORPG? By the way: More than 3 million players are said to have already tried Throne and Liberty.
