A supposed sprint bug in Fortnite: Battle Royale caused confusion among players. Epic quickly made it clear: This is all intended.
What kind of bug is this? Actually, it’s not an error that’s occurring in Fortnite right now. Shortly after the release of Patch 12.10 in Fortnite: Battle Royale, players noticed that something had changed with the sprinting.
Players immediately asked on social media what was happening. Because there were once again no patch notes. But suddenly, sprinting in the game felt different. This caused confusion for many players.
What has changed with the sprint?
What’s behind it? Fortnite activated the “Sprint by Default” setting for all players in Patch 12.10 on March 3. Even players who previously used a key like Shift to sprint are now sprinting automatically after the change and moving more slowly by clicking sprint – if anything at all changed.
On Twitter, Fortnite explained: “[…] if you’re having problems with sprinting, then open your in-game options and make sure the ‘Sprint by Default’ option is set to your preferred value.” Because sprinting isn’t always helpful in Fortnite.
Here’s the problem: While Fortnite announced this adjustment on Twitter, it’s difficult to inform players without official patch notes. On Twitter, @Ritz76 notes:
“Why are you doing this? I already had this activated, but not everyone has social media. And if those [who do not use social media] had it turned off before, they’re confused at first.”
Fortnite issued a big statement: To inform more players about the change, Epic Games later released a large popup after the update that is displayed when you start Fortnite: Battle Royale.
This clearly informs players about the changes to prevent further confusion.
With the new Patch 12.10, the proximity mine was also added to the game. Pro Ninja has tested it and says: “I’m a genius”
