The team from Pokémon TCG Pocket has taken the players’ criticism to heart and will change the trading system. However, many impatient players feel that this is not enough.
What was the problem? It is not possible to simply trade all cards with other players. Instead, the developers of Pokémon TCG Pocket have established several rules to prevent rampant trading:
- You need trading tokens starting from a rarity of 3 diamonds to trade cards. You can obtain these through events or missions. In addition to trading stamina, you can only trade a limited number of times.
- To create trading tokens, collectors can alternatively destroy cards. However, this means that in the worst case, they will have no duplicates left for trading.
- You can only trade cards with friends. Players with few people on their friends list are limited in their options.
The criticism of this system was so great at the release that even players who invested a lot of money in the mobile game avoided the trading feature. However, the development team has heard the desperate cries of the community and is now implementing a change.
The latest expansion, which you can see in the following trailer, unfortunately cannot be traded yet:
New change aims to make trading in Pokémon TCG Pocket easier
What will change in trading? As the team informs on X, the trading tokens are to be eliminated. Instead, trainers should use sparkle dust, which they also use to acquire flair.
The developers are aware that the item will then be used for two functions. Therefore, they want to ensure that every trainer has enough of it. The update should allow them to trade even more cards.
When will the feature be available? The trading tokens are expected to be removed sometime in autumn 2025. When exactly is not yet determined. During this period, all trading tokens in the players’ possession will be exchanged for sparkle dust.
What are players saying about it? Under the tweet, there are some comments expressing happiness about the change. However, scrolling through the comments shows that there are still two points that bother fans:
- Autumn 2025 seems too long for many users
- They want to trade their entire collection, not just a part of it
When the development team will expand the selection to particularly rare cards or promo cards remains to be seen. So far, it is only possible to trade up to a rarity of one star. What levels exist above that is revealed by MeinMMO: Pokémon TCG Pocket: The rarest cards and how to obtain them
