The Elder Scrolls Online has various bugs, but some of them are so funny that they entertain players more than annoy them. One of them is the notorious loot box mount bug, which lets you ride on a loot box when opening it. Players still demand this bug as a real mount. But can you intentionally trigger the bug? We at MeinMMO tried it out.
What kind of bug is this? The loot box mount bug has been known in ESO for a while and continues to amuse players. Essentially, the following happens:
- Players open the menu to open a loot box and the notorious Khajiit Pacrooti appears. The cat sits on a loot box and praises in flowery language what might be inside and how little the box costs. You should finally seize the opportunity!
- When you open the box, you get the items and can either continue playing or open more loot boxes, which makes Pacrooti very happy.
- In some cases, however, the animation with Pacrooti on the loot box replaces the player’s avatar after they have finished opening the loot box.
- The result is that you literally wobble around sitting as Pacrooti on the loot box!
Players celebrate the bug and want their own loot box mount
How does the community react? Just like with the “mount running bug”, the players of ESO are not upset, but rather pleased. Because the bug looks just delightfully silly. Especially after a player posted an incredible Mario Kart-style video on reddit , where he wobbles around as Pacrooti on the loot box through a Gramstorm in Skyrim and gets knocked out by a wild boar at the end.
In numerous comments, players are excited about this “bug” and demand “we want a loot box mount too!”.
This is how you can ride on loot boxes yourself: If you want to ride on a loot box yourself, we at MeinMMO have good news for you. Our ESO expert and streamer MiezeMelli (via YouTube.com) took the hints under the reddit video to heart and tried to reconstruct the bug. In the embedded video here, you will learn how to place Pacrooti as an item and later how to make him wobble around.
As described in the video, you just need to do the following:
- Get the add-on Dolgubon’s Lazy Writ Crafter
- Get the library LibLazyCraftings
- Buy a loot box so that Pacrooti can appear
- Open the loot box menu
- Go to your add-on settings: Under the Time Saver tab, you will find the function “Hide Companion”. There you select “Always hide”.
- Hide your user interface. You can assign a key to do this in the controls.
- Then move and spam a menu button like C (Character window) or I (Inventory)
And Pacrooti should appear and wobble on the loot box!
As described above, this is how you can get your own Pacrooti loot box mount. With it, you can pass the time until the developers at ZeniMax might eventually relent and grant you a “real” loot box mount. It wouldn’t be surprising, given that silly hobbyhorses and soulless stones as pets have already made their way into the game.
