After the beta of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, many players have returned to MW2. A player notes on Reddit: The predecessor looks pretty bad in his eyes.
Currently, players of Call of Duty are making a comparison on Reddit between the beta of Modern Warfare 3 and last year’s predecessor, Modern Warfare 2. The user “Goldhawk_1” writes there: “Holy smokes, MW2 is totally bad in comparison.”
In the comments, the community is currently discussing the pros and cons of both shooters. Topics include skill-based matchmaking, movement, and sounds in the game.
As for matchmaking: This could be what your CoD lobby would look like in real life. At least if your squad consisted of rappers, CoD icons, and basketball professionals:
“The bomb, no comparison to MW2”
Why can’t MW2 compete for the player? In his post from October 21st, “Goldhawk_1” writes in the subreddit for Modern Warfare 3 that he finds the predecessor “so much worse”. He wanted to play MW2 in the meantime until the release of MW3 and is glad that the successor will be released soon.
This is what he writes in the post:
The health regeneration takes [in MW2] an eternity.
Somehow everyone knows immediately where you are, maybe it has to do with the stomping noises of everyone’s boots, which are louder than the damn gunfire.
People actually complained about the hit detection in the MW3 beta, but in every single game of MW2 you die in one shot. And you have to shoot about six shots at the guy who shot at you before he even knew you were there.
In comparison, this is just incredible. The quality of the matches is not even close.
What other players say: In the comments, players are currently discussing the two titles of the shooter series. Many are looking forward to the release of MW3 and are cautiously optimistic. Others criticize a few aspects that they noticed during the beta.
We have summarized a few voices for you:
- “oneonus” says: “Audio and visuals in MW3 are amazing, no comparison to MW2.”
- “TSM-HabZ” writes: “I like both for different reasons because they are different games.”
- “PopticParticlezz” says: “I enjoyed the movement in MW3 more.” To that, spideyjiri responds: “I liked that I could see something while shooting.”
- “MozM” writes: “The only thing I literally hate about it is how ridiculously boring the sniper rifles look. I hope they change their designs immediately. A sniper should not look like an AK or an M4.”
- “mydibz” writes: “Health regeneration? ‘Laughs in hardcore mode'”
- “nicideadpool” comments: “We’ll see when the honeymoon phase is over.”
“It feels like moving back into your own apartment”
In another post on Reddit, the user “zipzoopu” asks on October 22nd how the gameplay in the MW3 beta compares to the predecessor MW2 for people who have played both.
These comparisons are drawn by the community: The user “AbbeRezz” comments: “The gameplay is generally [in MW3] better and faster, the weapon customization is extremely similar to MW2.” Another user writes: “10000% better, feels like CoD again.”
For “partyingwithcats”, MW3 feels like “moving back into your own apartment after living with roommates for a long time.”
“knightmare1434” finds the movements in MW3 smoother, and the weapon handling easier. “But that was in the beta and could change when the game comes out,” he writes. The weapon and hit sounds sound better to him in MW3. However, the SBMM is “crap” for him, as well as the spawn system.
CODninjarin writes: “The gameplay is fluid, it has much faster movements. The gunplay is a bit of an adjustment since the time-to-kill is longer, but that doesn’t bother me personally. Overall, it feels more ‘arcade’ compared to MW2. Reminds me of older CODs, but that could just be nostalgia.”
Speaking of nostalgia. On November 10th, MW3 will start with 16 classic maps from the 2009 Call of Duty – including voting. The well-known maps, many of which are favorites among players, evoke nostalgic feelings for fans of the series:
