In Monster Hunter Wilds there are 14 weapons that you can use to embark on a creature hunt. The different weapons offer many options for fighting and every player has their own favorites. One player wanted to learn all the weapons, but a particular one derailed his plan.
Which weapon is it about? On Reddit, the user irgama posted that he tried to learn all the weapons he did not know so far. These included the gunlance, the sword and shield, the longsword, the insect glaive, and the hunting horn.
First, he tried the gunlance in low-rank, but it did not work for him, even though he really wanted to love it. After that, he wanted to learn the sword and shield, and he became enlightened.
The weapon destroyed his view of the other weapons. [Playing sword and shield] in Wilds is the most fun I’ve ever had in a Monster Hunter game. I love this thing.
He further explains that he tried and liked the glaive and the horn, but no other weapon gave him the feeling like the sword and shield. With any other weapon, he thinks: This fight would be so much more fun with [sword and shield].
His plan to learn the rest of the arsenal was derailed by the sword and shield. He is not the only one who has fallen in love with this weapon.

Accomplished-Kick122 (via Reddit) does not consider himself a good player and often uses the sword and shield because he cannot anticipate the monsters’ attacks. With this weapon, however, he can block them well.

However, there are also players who feel such a connection to other weapons like the lance or morph axe.
What makes this weapon so good? Looking at the tier list for Monster Hunter Wilds, it is evident that it is not the strongest weapon in the game, but the sword and shield has few weaknesses. With perfect blocking, you can counter strong attacks, and you remain very mobile with quick attacks. Moreover, the weapon offers good damage output in Wilds.
It is not only a perfect weapon for beginners but also a good choice in almost every situation.
