The world of Red Dead Redemption 2 is huge, but it also has its limits. And Rockstar ensures that these limits are maintained with some very radical methods. However, the developers apparently did not reckon with players who have luck. Literally.
This is how RDR 2 prevents you from exploring:
- You visit the island of Guarma during the campaign of Red Dead Redemption 2 and have only limited opportunities to discover anything here.
- An invisible sniper ensures that you get shot immediately if you move outside the planned area.
- However, if you find out where the shots are coming from, you can prevent them and even use them against the game.
This is how you can still look around Guarma: A user on Reddit shows how he moves relatively freely on the sugar cane plantations of Guarma. His trick: He carries a dead pig on his shoulder.
The shots from the invisible shooter always come from the direction of the camera and aim directly at Arthur’s head. However, the player positions himself so that the pig hangs between Arthur’s head and the camera.
Thus, the surprisingly bulletproof cadaver blocks the bullets and the game character remains unharmed. He even throws out a few silly jokes. And even more interesting: In the clip, you can see how the player uses the sniper to take out guards.
After he has precisely determined where the shots are coming from and where they are aiming, he brings the heads of NPCs exactly into the line of fire. What then happens violates youth protection regulations.
Guarma is surprisingly detailed
While exploring the map, players have previously found that the world around the planned part of the island is well-crafted. The vegetation does stop at some point, but the wildlife remains active. There is even a secret white shark to discover.
There are other ways to end up on Guarma. If you visit Guarma by canoe and through a glitch before you arrive as planned, the sniper should also not be active.
If you are drunk and wake up, you can also reach Guarma – but you should avoid doing so. Because if you try to escape, you will be shot. If you save there, the save is ruined.
Players have known for some time that they can explore Guarma. However, the pig trick has still surprised many – simply because so many years after release, new things are still being discovered.
