Many players want to level up as quickly as possible in Diablo 4 to improve their builds and grind in the endgame. A clever user has compiled an overview that summarizes all bonuses conveniently.
What factors are involved?
- The user ThatJumpyJumpS shared an overview on Reddit with factors that grant you XP bonuses.
- There are boosts that affect your character, higher difficulties, and higher enemy levels. It is important: don’t make it too difficult for yourself; being fast is more important.
- You can find general tips in our leveling guide for Diablo 4.
The benefits of the bonuses: If you use multiple boosts and play at a higher level, you will earn significantly more experience points than if you simply stay at “your level.” Ideally, you can reach max level in under 50 hours.
To reach level 100, you will need approximately 500 million experience points in total. The user explains the various factors in detail and provides tips in a video on YouTube on what you need to keep in mind.
Leveling up quickly in Diablo 4 – 3 factors in detail
These level boosts are available:
- Elixirs: Increase experience by 5% for 30 minutes
- Other players: Increase experience by 5% when they are near or by 10% when you are in a group
- Campfires: Increase experience by 15% for up to 2 minutes
- The bonuses are additive, so you simply add them together
Elixirs are the easiest way here. You usually have some with you; just don’t forget to take them. It’s best to assign elixirs to a hotkey, so you always have one active.
You will often meet other players in the open world. If you complete an event together, you will already get more XP. If you play with friends, you will get even more XP. By the way, Diablo 4 has full crossplay between PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
Campfires are only available at strongholds and at Legion events, a special endgame content. If you use it and stand next to it, the XP buff stacks up but only lasts for a short time.
This is the influence of the world level:
- World Level 1 (Adventurer): Base XP
- World Level 2 (Veteran): +20% XP
- World Level 3 (Nightmare): +100% XP, but enemies do not scale below level 50
- World Level 4 (Torment): +200% XP, but enemies do not scale below level 70
- there are exceptions in scaling, for example at strongholds and with certain bosses and dungeons
You need to complete a “Capstone Dungeon” for World Levels 3 and 4 to unlock them. Here you can let friends help you because the open world at the corresponding levels is generally easier than the dungeon itself.
It is important that you only go as high as you feel comfortable. If you are forever nibbling on the enemies, leveling is no longer efficient. If you still need help, you can find the best builds in Diablo 4 in the tier list.
This is the influence of the enemy level:
- 1 level higher: +15% XP
- 2 levels higher: +20% XP
- 3 or more levels higher: +25% XP
- Enemies below your level give fewer XP, decreasing down to 1 XP per enemy.
While the enemy level actually scales with you, it is generally higher in certain areas like the Hell Flood or Nightmare Dungeons. This way, you control how much XP you get from enemies.
However, ThatJumpyJumpS also explains that enemies at higher levels generally grant more experience points. Again, the rule is: only do what you can handle comfortably. If you want to level up particularly quickly, the creator as well as many experts recommend the dungeon Downfall of the Champion/Champion’s Demise in the Dry Steppes.
