Leaks about Diablo 4 are emerging as a first alpha is apparently underway. The test is strictly limited and only selected individuals are granted access. Consequently, it is fairly easy to track down leakers. Quite unfortunate for this leaker, who has shown a lot of gameplay for Diablo 4, fans believe.
What does the gameplay show?
- Some screenshots and even a short clip from an early alpha build have surfaced, showcasing character creation, difficulties, and even parts of a cinematic.
- Additionally, leaks have already revealed information about the loot system of Diablo 4 and trading of items.
- The download size is said to be around 70 GB for PC.
- Fans are actively discussing the shown and actually secret contents but have mockery for the leakers who carelessly revealed their identity.

These are the new leaked contents: Right after the end of the partially recorded intro cinematic, the player enters the character selection. There, they can view the 5 classes of Diablo 4 and then choose the Druid.
In the customization options, the rather plump model of the class is visible with various genders, skin colors, and additional customization options. However, the selection options for tutorials and difficulties are particularly exciting.
In the tutorial, you can apparently choose whether you want more or less guidance. New players should thus seek better advice. In the shown build, there are 2 options to choose from for the difficulties:
- World Tier 1 “Adventurer”
- For new players or those seeking an easier challenge.
- Enemies are easier to defeat.
- Item drops are “average.”
- World Tier 2 “Veteran”
- For veterans looking for a challenge.
- Enemies have a higher difficulty.
- Better drops and more gold and experience.
The difficulty is said to be changeable in-game at a statue in Kyovashad. However, keep in mind that this is information from an early alpha build. Much can still change before the beta or release, especially since the release is scheduled for sometime in 2023.
Of the 5 starting classes, the Necromancer was the last to be introduced. In the cinematic, you can see what the dark necromancers stand for:
Recordings have watermarks – players are likely to get in trouble
What makes the leaks so bizarre is the watermark. It is visible everywhere that this is the “Private Test Build 508546.” For Blizzard, this serves as a kind of business card for the tester since the number can clearly assign a tester.
The leaker himself does not seem to realize that he is bound by a non-disclosure agreement (“NDA”) for the alpha. In the clip, he says: “I don’t even know if I’m allowed to stream this at all.”
On reddit, some Diablo fans are asking how one can be “so dumb.” They are also speculating about what penalties the leaker might face and those who invited him. Speculations range from exclusion from this and further tests to loss of job for the recruiter.
Users also point out that one is repeatedly reminded of the confidentiality. We ourselves do not know what penalties the testers receive for breaking this NDA. Contracts that we know from MeinMMO, however, have already involved sensitive monetary penalties for a breach of contract.
The leaked contents quickly vanished from Twitter and other platforms in the original, but shortly thereafter they were uploaded on other platforms and have been circulating since. Whether more leaks will come remains to be seen – but we suspect that there will be closer monitoring now.
How Diablo 4 will ultimately look is something we probably won’t know until 2023. MeinMMO editor Benedict Grothaus already has wishes that certainly not everyone shares:
