A Reddit user claims to have sold a domain for $2,000 and allegedly to Rockstar Games. He suspects it has something to do with GTA 6.
How did the Reddit user make money? In a Reddit post, the user rainyaltaccount claims he made money with a domain. In May 2025, rainyaltaccount allegedly purchased the domain visitgloriana.com. He came up with the idea because he read “State of Gloriana” on the license plates in the trailer for GTA 6. rainyaltaccount supposedly acquired the domain and redirected it to rockstargames.com, claiming to have done it “for fun” and “because he wanted to troll people”.
rainyaltaccount further states that he observed how some people panicked due to the redirection and suspected something bigger regarding GTA 6. Even though it should have been obvious that the domain was registered by someone else rather than Rockstar.
By the end of 2025, a person reportedly contacted rainyaltaccount, claiming they wanted to buy the domain. The price was said to be around $600, which rainyaltaccount allegedly negotiated up to $2,000 (approx. €1,700).
“Congratulations, you made money out of nowhere”
What could be behind this? rainyaltaccount suspects that Rockstar Games is behind the purchase, all because of GTA 6. For a long time, not much happened with the domain, but recently it was allegedly transferred to the registrar MarkMonitor.
MarkMonitor is also said to be a company used by Rockstar Games or Take Two. Thus, rainyaltaccount suspects that the buyer is indeed Rockstar themselves. However, rainyaltaccount has no solid evidence, only a strong suspicion.
How does the community react? The comments under the Reddit post react amused to rainyaltaccount’s story. For instance, Gaghet comments: “Congratulations, you made money out of nowhere” and GrujoLegend finds: “It’s hilarious that this $2,000 comes from the development budget for GTA 6. That’s a well-earned bragging right because it’s just too funny.”
Whether the Reddit user’s assumption is true or not remains uncertain for now. Not only in game development does Rockstar face some hurdles, but also with their employees.
