In Fortnite: Battle Royale should have excited players with the new Halloween mode “Fortnitemares”. However, instead there were issues with matchmaking and player search. Therefore, the new mode is already gone. What happens now?
New mode is no longer available: Those who were looking forward to a few rounds in the new PvE&PvP mode “Fortnitemares” in Fortnite will have to make do with the regular game modes. Because Epic has removed the new mode just a few hours after its introduction.
Servers completely overloaded: The reason for this drastic measure is likely the problems with matchmaking, player search, and the waiting list. It seems overwhelmed by the influx of players, causing wait times of 15 minutes or more and forcing the servers to their knees.
Therefore, the new mode had to be turned off while the developers take a closer look at the issue.
This is the status of the disruptions and maintenance on player search
What is the status of the bug fix? Currently, the developers have been able to identify the bug in matchmaking and player search. This is already an important first step. At 14:45 our time, they began to address the issue.
Update 2: The maintenance is complete and player search seems to be working again in all modes of Fortnitemares.
Update 1: At least the squad mode of Fortnitemares seems to be still functioning. The solo and duo modes, however, are still offline.
When can I play again? Unfortunately, Epic has not said how long the maintenance on the new mode will take. However, they will immediately provide an update on Twitter and on the Epic Server Status page when there is any news on the matter. Until then, you can at least still play the 4-player mode of Fortnitemares or try out the other game modes.
We will also inform you here if we have news from the development about the issues in Fortnite.
