In The Division 2, a player demonstrated how he would redesign the item view to provide players with all the information they need about an item. For this, he receives a lot of praise on reddit.
This is the player’s problem: The player “HerbertDad” states on reddit that he loves the new Episode 1 in The Division 2. The level designers have done a fantastic job.
However, he does not like the fact that he has to sift through his inventory for an hour each time before he can get started. He has now started to just throw all items in the trash because it is too stressful to go through which item is actually good and would be an upgrade.

The Division 2 – a “stat salad”
He actually enjoys min/maxing – but it’s terrible in The Division 2. It’s the most tedious “stat salad” he has ever played. And he has played a lot of Diablo and Destiny and everything in between.
The problem is:
- One must collect and stash millions of items for their builds
- But at the same time, one could play for weeks and find no improvement, as the randomness factor in The Division 2 is incredibly high
More important information in the interface
What is his solution? The player’s solution is to redesign the view when looking at a new item. He wants to reduce the size and amount of unimportant information:
- The font size for armor value should be smaller
- It doesn’t need to state three times that the item is “gloves”
- The section with set bonuses could also be reduced
However, the window should provide new information:
- Can I donate the item to a current project?
- What are the maximum rolls for the respective value?
- Do I already have items of this brand or with these values in my inventory or in storage for this slot?
Additionally, he makes further suggestions to improve recalibration or to farm loot more specifically.

He does not mean to make loot “super easy.” People should still work for a perfect build. But there need to be opportunities to work towards something and improve intentionally.
Loot is currently the critical point in The Division 2
This is being discussed: The problem with the readability of loot is one that occupies many agents in The Division 2. On reddit, the agent’s design is praised, and the information about whether one already has similar items in storage is appreciated by many.
However, there are also many other suggestions to “de-complexify” loot. It is said that an item with a high gear score should always have stronger values than one with a low gear score.
In general, loot and inventory management is currently seen as the biggest problem of The Division 2.
Information about the strength of the rolls needed to make a decision about loot can currently be found in documents outside the game.
Massive has also identified the “loot” problem and wants to address it:
