In League of Legends, the champion Yuumi is hated. A player has spent hundreds of hours with this champion and hates him deeply. Although the champion is meant for players to learn LoL with him, the cat had exactly the opposite effect on her. She has spent hundreds of hours with LoL but can do nothing.
This is what the player says: On reddit, a player says her boyfriend forced her to play the support champ Yuumi and she has since accumulated 250,000 mastery points in it. A milestone that requires several hundred hours of LoL.
She actually wanted to play other heroes, but her boyfriend got angry and said she had to play Yuumi, or else he wouldn’t have fun. Because Yuumi the cat significantly boosts the ADC she jumps to and acts as their private healer. This way, the player fits the “healer girl” stereotype, a role many women are pushed into in MMOs.
By now, the boyfriend is also her ex-boyfriend. Because the player says:
I feel so terrible, considering how much LoL I’ve already played, but when people play with me these days, they can immediately tell how bad I am.
I wish Yuumi had never existed – there’s no champion that requires so little effort and keeps you from learning – honestly, a former Yuumi main.
Yuumi is actually meant to help learn LoL step by step
What is her problem? The player says she has played so much LoL, but because she always had to play Yuumi, she learned nothing about the game itself:
I still can’t play any other champion except her. My movement is terrible, my last-hitting is terrible, my skillshots are terrible, my autoattacks are terrible, I can’t dodge or hit anything. I’ve wasted so much time without actually learning the basics of the game.
Riot Games and the cursed cat of evil
What is the reason? Yuumi was always planned by Riot Games as a “beginner hero”, allowing newcomers to get to know only a small part of the game initially while an experienced acquaintance, her partner in the bot lane, takes care of essential parts of the game for the Yuumi player.
Because Yuumi does not run herself, but jumps onto another player’s shoulder and only has to use her abilities.
The plan by Riot Games to establish Yuumi as a beginner heroine, however, always brought trouble, because although the champ is easy to play for beginners, there was a time when very good players exploited her to win games and even tournaments. In the meantime, Yuumi was even banned, until Riot Games reworked her in February 2023.
Because the hero is so easy to play but is often not even targetable in many situations, many professionals have cursed the existence of Yuumi and demanded that she be banned from the game. However, with the player now, the level of hatred for Yuumi has apparently reached a whole new level: One of the best players in the world demands that Riot completely delete a champ from LoL
