The YouTuber ChrisDaCow has recreated the universe with his planets, stars, and galaxies in Minecraft. In a video, he explains how he managed to do that.
Who is ChrisDaCow? The name of the YouTuber will sound familiar to some Minecraft fans. He is active in the scene and has already released several large videos showcasing his spectacular constructions in the game. These include the painting “Starry Night” by Vincent van Gogh and huge medieval castles.
Although his earlier projects were already huge and took him many months of work, ChrisDaCow decided to take it a step further in his latest video. He recreated the universe in Minecraft, albeit on a somewhat smaller scale than it is in reality.
“Ok, you finished Minecraft.”
How did he do it? The YouTuber’s construction project started (comparatively) relatively small, as he first recreated the Earth in Minecraft. He used World Edit for this, with the planets having to be about 700,000 times smaller than the originals, or else they wouldn’t fit into the game.
Nevertheless, the constructions were gigantic. ChrisDaCow needed 3 days of working time just for the Earth to complete it. After that, he moved on to the solar system.
When it came to the individual planets, the rings of Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, and Neptune were the toughest part, but the Sun also presented the YouTuber with quite a bit of work. He wanted it to look “like hot radioactive death,” which is why he used the brightest colors and recreated solar flares.
After the solar system also became too small for ChrisDaCow, he moved on to recreate other cosmic objects. These include, for example, the Pillars of Creation, which were first photographed by the Hubble Space Telescope in 1995. The YouTuber used the photo as a template for his construction project.

Once the pillars were finished, the YouTuber continued with a black hole that was supposed to look just like the one from the movie “Interstellar.” According to his own statement, it was the hardest thing he has built in the 9 years he has been playing Minecraft. Following that were the various galaxies, and in the end, the actual universe.
These reactions exist: For his creation, ChrisDaCow has been celebrated by the community on social media, Reddit, and YouTube. In the Minecraft subreddit his video received over 116,000 upvotes and over 2,600 comments, and in r/minecraftbuilds there were another 26,000 upvotes.
In the comments, users expressed their amazement at the size and beauty of the project. Many congratulated him on the completion of the construction and showered him with accolades.
- “Ok, you finished Minecraft. That is incredibly impressive.” – Druss_Rua
- “If this doesn’t become one of the top posts in the subreddit, I will be offended. Few people in the world can do what you do.[…]” – Filqon
- “That’s really damn impressive. Well done!” – gigagone
Even the official UK Twitter account of Xbox has shown its amazement and shared the YouTuber’s video with its followers.
Overall, ChrisDaCow stated that the construction project took about 2 months of continuous work. Where his journey will lead him next, he did not reveal in the comments on Reddit, but it will certainly be something similarly gigantic.
