MMORPG players are known for taking on crazy challenges. On reddit, a player has now shared his story in New World. There, he created a character for Christmas, with which he never left the first settlement. He leveled for over 6 months and finally reached Level 60.
What exactly did the player do? The user EngineerNeedles says that he created a character on December 24 and completed the tutorial quests up to the first settlement. Upon arriving in Windkreis, he never left the town again.
In the town, he leveled solely through fishing and the town quests that could be completed without leaving the settlement.
He did this for almost 6 months until he finally reached Level 60 on May 19.

How exactly did he level up? A large part of his experience points comes from fishing. There, he not only reached the max level 200 but also leveled the professions beyond to level 48. That takes quite some time.
The player assumes that he currently has the highest fishing skill on his server, even though he “only” started in January. However, it is possible that bots have a higher level.
But fishing had an interesting side effect. Because time and again, junk items can be caught that can be recycled into wood or ore. Through this, he was able to level professions like woodworking, smelting, or engineering.
He leveled cooking through the fish he caught.
Additionally, he utilized the town quests that sometimes require collecting fish fillet or other materials. He could only complete these through fishing as well.
How many hours of gameplay did it cost? This is currently unknown. However, he is said to have taken vacations outside of New World for a few days or weeks at a time during the 6 months. We at MeinMMO have inquired and will update the article accordingly when we have a response.
Additionally, the player revealed that fishing has earned him about 50,000 gold, though he recently spent about 40,000 gold on a T5 engineering gear.
What challenge is the player taking on next? On reddit, EngineerNeedles said that he will first run around the map and unlock more towns. After that, he wants to return to fishing.
In a comment, he also stated that he will next try to bring engineering to level 200 – only through fishing. Whether he really follows through with this challenge or meant it more as a joke will be seen in time.
However, he revealed that he sells legendary fish at the trading post and bought sandpaper there to advance engineering.
