Anyone who owns ex-cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket and builds their deck around them has an advantage over players who do not own any of these cards. However, one player lost their enjoyment of battles due to their strong cards and decided to change by throwing all ex-cards out of their decks.
What are these strong decks? These are decks built around ex-cards. These are cards with a special appearance and special strength. For example, a regular Charizard card has 150 HP and one attack, while the ex-version has 180 HP and two attacks.
User Due-Description5982 describes in their post on reddit that they had two strong decks:
- an Articuno ex deck
- a Pikachu ex and Zapdos ex deck
These two decks are strong and therefore popular. Especially the Pikachu ex deck is used very frequently due to its strength. Pikachu ex, for example, only needs two energies to be able to attack, making it quick to use.
Arcticuno ex can not only damage the active Pokémon with its attack Blizzard but can also distribute 10 damage points each to the Pokémon on the bench. It only requires three energies for this.

What made the player reconsider? With these strong decks, Due-Description5982 quickly lost interest in the game and was initially planning to wait until the next booster packs to play again.
The user experienced the hype in the community surrounding NOEX. This is a way for players to find each other who do not use ex-cards in their decks and want to play against other players of this kind. This keeps the battle fair.
Due-Description5982 decided to try out NOEX and built a deck around Gyarados and Misty. Afterwards, they tried a Nido deck, consisting of Nidoqueen and Nidoking.
With a meme, they emphasize that they finally have fun playing again and now understand the hype around NOEX. They write: “I think I’ve been converted.”
