The first player has brought all 12 classes in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands to the new maximum level 60 – just a week after release. Now he explains which classes were the best to level up and which took longer.
Who is the player? The wowhead user HeadyAF managed to reach level 60 with all classes in World of Warcraft about a week after the release of Shadowlands on November 24. He has visited the Shadowlands 12 times and fought through the zones.
HeadyAF is thus the first (known) player to bring all classes to the maximum level.
How long did it take him? According to his own statement, it took him about 165 hours. That averages out to 13 hours and 45 minutes per character. He was not as fast as the fastest players, who only took three hours to reach level 60, but still the first to achieve this milestone.
In the interview with wowhead, he explains which classes leveled the fastest, which are the most enjoyable to play, and what tricks he used to make leveling easier.
The fastest and most enjoyable classes to level up
This is the best class for him: The Demon Hunter in the “Vengeance” specialization was his favorite for leveling. He had the most fun with it, and the mobility and self-healing helped him get through the expansion well.
This class will likely also be the one he wants to play in the upcoming content in Mythic+ and raids.
Interestingly, he least enjoyed the Death Knight, which he played for the first time with Shadowlands. Lacking experience and with the somewhat cumbersome Unholy specialization, he faced the most challenges – even though Unholy Death Knights are ranked #1 in the current DPS rankings for Shadowlands.
Which class levels the fastest? HeadyAF names two classes he could level particularly quickly with: Elemental Shaman and Fury Warrior. The Shaman has his own tank companion, which made many quests easier for him.
The Fury Warrior has enormous mobility with his heroic leap and various items like Goblin Gliders, allowing him to move faster through the zones.
Tips for faster leveling
Many of his tips for faster leveling are the same as the expert tips to quickly reach level 60: Get items that make you faster and ensure self-healing through abilities or potions.
HeadyAF also advises to play with the “Threads of Fate” only if your item level is above about 100-110 at the start. This mode rewards you with only a few items that improve your character and can take a long time if you don’t have good gear.
With the Threads of Fate, you skip the story as a Twink and can immediately join one of the Covenants from Shadowlands. Instead of leveling through story quests, you’ll level with dungeons, world quests, and events that are unlocked immediately.

Additional tips for faster leveling include:
- Self-healing when playing alone
- otherwise bring a friend and complete campaign quests
- use healing potions, Goblin Gliders, and Lightfoot Boots
HeadyAF also advises to take on the side quests available in Ardenweald – especially if leveling with others. You should already reach level 60 here and can still pick a Covenant afterward, as long as you have access to the Threads of Fate.
