Currently, there is a desperate Guardian in Destiny 2 who has lost all 5 space abilities. This makes him probably unique. His situation has also sparked some old memories for some players of the beginnings of the loot shooter in the Red War, but also some jokes.
What happened to the Guardian? A few days ago, a desperate Guardian posted on the Destiny Reddit saying, “I lost my light.”
Instead of gliding gracefully through the air and defeating his opponents with spectacular supers, he now finds himself as a leisurely walker, slowly moving across the ground and unable to jump properly. Thus, he faces not only a problem but is currently probably unique in Destiny 2.
In the comments under his post on Reddit, amusing jokes were initially made. But they also tried to help him because he can no longer play Destiny 2 this way.
Is this the hardcore mode of Lightfall?
How did the loss of abilities happen? As Recent_Leek_2592 explains on Reddit, he had equipped the latest ability in Destiny 2, “Strand” when it happened. He actually just wanted to switch from PC to another platform to play.
However, what he did not consider was that he does not own the current expansion “Lightfall” and thus does not have access to “Strand”.
- The consequence was the loss of all 5 subclasses of his character.
- Likewise, his grenades, melee, and jump abilities are no longer available.
He has tried to return to the PC where he owns “Lightfall” to switch his ability to an available subclass like Void or Arc, but even there the problem persists because he did not acquire Lightfall for all platforms.
So he has been stuck in the game for a few days now – can hardly defend himself and can’t jump far anymore, as he shows in this video:
In the community, this evokes old memories
Guardians completely without light abilities? That last happened in Year 1 of Destiny 2 during the Red War.
- Back then, Gary, excuse me Ghaul, blocked the light of the Traveler and the Guardians also had to struggle for a while without abilities.
- They only had the simple jump and their only option to defend themselves was a weapon.
These were the moments when the Guardians realized what they are without the Traveler. However, this also awakened the spirit of challenge. Thus, Virtual-Park-3349 commented: “When I see this, I want to replay the Red War.”
Fate seems to be playing a strange game with this Guardian. The irony of the situation, however, also made some other Guardians smile.
It didn’t take long for the affected player to be lovingly pointed out by Gravelord_Baron that he probably unlocked the “average guy mode”.
As tragic as that is – a few jokes at his expense had to come out:
- LostinWalk commented: “Ghost went on vacation.”
- firedrago8604 writes: “No, you are a beta player who unlocked the final form earlier.”
- crossfire_cool_gamer speculated: “Guys, we found the only Guardian who shot his ghost in the campaign to save the Traveler!” referencing the scene with our ghost during the Lightfall campaign.
- Crucio noted with interest: “Wow, is Destiny getting a Diablo-like hardcore mode now?”
- The Guardian Zephirenth saw everything black: “He is so permeated with darkness that he is Vantablack [the blackest black]. Not even the Witness can compete with him.”
- And Leethality14 even wants to send the lightless Guardian to Neomuna: “I think the Cloudstriders are accepting applications.”
Others, however, said this was his unique chance for the toughest challenge in Destiny 2 to become immortal in the endgame of the loot shooter.
Now hoping for help from Bungie: So far, all rescue attempts have been in vain. The players’ tips brought no change to the situation – no matter what they tried. Therefore, the player is now hoping for help from Bungie Support to be freed from his predicament.
What about you? What would you advise the Guardian? And do you still remember your lightless days in Destiny 2? Would you want to replay the Red War because of that? Or do you think that at the end of the great saga, the Guardians will lose their light anyway? Then feel free to comment.
Maybe the lightless Guardian should switch to using chairs in Destiny 2:
