In Destiny 2 shows a wicked video that explains why you should (not) play Gambit. A Guardian manages to pull off the perfect shot, killing the entire team, stealing the maximum number of particles, and preventing a certain defeat. We show how he did it.
Gambit is having a hard time in Destiny 2. Many Guardians don’t like the unusual mix of PvE and PvP. While two separate teams are mowing down waves of enemies and gathering the particles they leave behind, a player from the opposing team sneaks onto the map and causes chaos as an Invader.
That’s why you should (not) play Gambit: A crazy clip now makes the Gambit dream – or nightmare – come true. It all depends on which side you are on. In it, a Guardian turns a nearly lost match around as an Invader with one shot, likely ruining the day for the overconfident opponents.
60 particles denied with just one shot in Gambit
What exactly happened?
- The reddit user and Guardian ResponsibleCover868 is behind with his team.
- The 4 enemies are ready to deposit 15 particles each.
- The 60 particles would fill the bank, summon the boss, and additionally send 4 powerful mini-bosses (Blockers) to ResponsibleCover868’s side.
- The nasty part: these enemies would also steal the smaller particle lead – so the match is pretty much lost.
Our hero manages to deposit enough of his own particles at the last second to open the portal to the other side. Since the 4 enemies are ready to deposit, he only has time for a nearly blind shot in their general direction. And lo and behold, he takes them all out with a rocket and all 60 enemy particles are lost.

This is how he did it: The Invader uses the exotic rocket launcher Deathbringer. It’s more of a mortar that splits its shot into falling Nova Bombs that have tracking. With the actually better exotic rocket launcher for Gambit – “Eyes of Tomorrow” – he wouldn’t have had enough time at all.
ResponsibleCover868 has shown super timing twice – or simply a lot of luck. Because you have to hold down the shoot button with Deathbringer and release it at the right moment to get the maximum out of the weapon. Additionally, he arrived just when all 4 enemies wanted to deposit together and were helpless.
The Invader is surprised by his success. He has already loaded a 2nd rocket and shoots it at the stunned enemies as he is automatically called back to his own battlefield due to the team wipe.
The kill shows how important the unwritten rule “the Invader gets the power ammo” is.
The community predicts the uninstallation of Destiny 2
Today, on September 14, 2021, the 4-day-old clip has already amassed over 11,000 upvotes on reddit and has a 96% approval rating. One can say that the Guardians celebrate the wicked kill – rightfully so.
What do the Guardians say? Many of the nearly 500 comments revolve around the fact that the opponents are probably going to uninstall Destiny 2 or at least rage quit out of anger – that is, end the game.
- Thus writes _Van_Hellsing_: “You laugh. You made them uninstall and you are just laughing” (via reddit).
- User Sospuff jokes: “Triumph unlocked: Death by Rage Quit – all opponents lose connection in a 5-second interval” (via reddit). This refers to the actual triumphs that the Invader receives in the clip after his crazy kill.
- The Guardian DevgruLA99 openly admits: “Damn, I would have rage quit too, ouch” (via reddit).
Appropriately, the Vagabond (in the title image) comments on the situation humorously in the background: “They are crying because you snatched the particles from their hands!” Then the NPC laughs loudly and says, “Oh sorry, did they say something?”
