A player wanted to join a group for a dungeon run in Diablo 4 but was rejected – and proved to others that arrogance can sometimes be the final boss.
This is the function of the dungeon: In the dungeon, you unlock additional torment levels in Diablo 4. With its many levels, the activity also serves as a good way to test the strength of builds in the endgame. Experts like Rob use it for their theorycrafting, which serves as the basis for our tier list.
A player reports on Reddit that he was kicked from the group by other players. His level was apparently not high enough for the dungeon for the others. After he was finally given the chance to play, the others had to learn that a high level is not everything.
“PS: Don’t be that guy”
What happened to the player? In his Reddit post, MontyGames101 shares that he was looking for a group to tackle the dungeon below level 120. For comparison: The strongest builds, according to Rob’s assessment in his Google Doc, reach level 140. The player finds a group, but gets kicked multiple times.
During the third attempt, he asked why. The response: His level was “too low.” However, he was already level 230 with his barbarian. When he explained that he could easily handle level 120, he received the reply from the group lead: “Well then, let’s see ;)”
This is how the group got a lesson in humility: Halfway through the dungeon, the character of the group lead died – the rest of the group and MontyGames101 did not. MontyGames101 then offered to lower the dungeon level if the lead wanted. But instead of a reply, he was simply kicked without a word.
In his Reddit post, he writes that it felt damn good. He notes that you shouldn’t underestimate a player because of their level. The user ends his post with: “PS: Don’t be that guy.”
This shows that a player’s strength in Diablo 4 is not determined solely by their level. The group leader let himself be blinded by his arrogance and got to feel what it means to be prematurely judged and underestimated.
Whether the group lead realizes that he made a mistake here and judged too quickly, we will probably not find out. Speaking of admitting mistakes: Blizzard recently made an admission. The curiosity vendor was once one of the best sources for loot – until it was nerfed in Season 7. And Blizzard admits that they nerfed a vendor too strongly in Season 7 of Diablo 4.
