Fallout 76 is now well known for its friendly community. However, what even veterans are surprised by now: Even new players are helpful and assist more experienced players when they can.
Which player is it about? In a thread on reddit the user wasnt_me_rly shared his experience as a veteran of Fallout 76. He writes there that he met a player around level 40 and talked to her.
wasnt_me_rly is already over level 150 and therefore hardly needs any items that he doesn’t already have. In conversation with the player, they came to the point that he would still like to have a Brahmin pen for his C.A.M.P. which he never found the recipe for.
This is how the player shows kindness
What did the player do? After the players went their separate ways, wasnt_me_rly set off to search for the corresponding recipe in the new player shops, also here without success. Shortly thereafter, the player reappeared and spoke to him via voice chat. She said:
I found a merchant who has the Brahmin plans you’re looking for. I searched the map for you and fortunately found you.
She handed him the plans and didn’t even ask for anything in return. wasnt_me_rly himself says that he is still speechless about the helpfulness.
That’s why it is so important to him: Some items, such as the Brahmin pen, are hardly to be found at higher levels because NPC merchants often offer different options and “better” items for endgame players.
That’s why it is difficult for players at higher levels to get such recipes: One recipe that has been long discussed is the handmade rifle, which many players still desperately want.
What the community says about it
This is how other players react: The thread on reddit now has over 1,500 upvotes and thus belongs to the currently most popular topics in the subreddit. Under the post, they shared their own experiences with helpful players or their own assistance that they provided.
It is also often read that players are simply satisfied and happy to be part of a community with such good manners. Even Bethesda’s head Todd Howard acknowledged the friendliness of the community at the E3 2019:
Despite some negative reviews of the game, players still enjoy being part of the community. But Fallout 76 is also making an effort to win players back:
