What happened to the player? The reddit user Bandit_Ke1th celebrated his success in Elden Ring with a post on reddit. He was excited to finally have defeated what he considered the worst boss for him after a whole six months and two uninstalls.
The boss was the notorious Malekith, the Black Blade. Every player in Elden Ring has that one boss they just can’t seem to get past.

Why did the player take so long? The reddit post with approximately 11,000 upvotes shows the Tarnished by Bandit_Ke1th after he defeated Malekith.
However, before one starts analyzing the player’s build, one must understand how Malekith functions as a boss. This wild beast fighter has two phases. In one, he is just a slow being wrapped in rags. However, when you start the second phase of his fight, Malekith transforms into a strong warrior in knight armor and wielding a black greatsword.
From then on, it gets exciting, as the boss can perform special attacks that not only reduce your life with hits but also continuously drain it from you. So if you get hit, you have to contend not only with his fast moveset but also with continuous HP loss.
Those who now, like Bandit_Ke1th, have a relatively small health bar for their game progress are only one hit away from being minced by the boss. Basically, the reckless attribute distribution of the Tarnished was the reason why he struggled with the boss for so long.
How did the story end? Bandit_Ke1th was able to defeat the boss, but many players on reddit advise him to revise his build. Many also suspect that he just evenly distributed his attributes without paying attention to which attributes are important and which can be neglected.
