In EA FC 25, a user shared a clip on Reddit that shows a mistake that many players have likely made. Especially during Team of the Season (TOTS), this blunder can become very costly. Fortunately, there is a simple solution.
Where does the mistake occur? The mistake can happen during a player pick in FC 25. In a player pick, you can choose between at least 2 items.
First, you need to reveal the hidden cards. You can do this manually with each item individually or use the automatic reveal of all pick items. Ultimately, you must select your desired card with a press of a button and confirm your selection with another press.
Actually, it’s a safe process. A user on Reddit demonstrates how one can still make an annoying mistake during a player pick.
What mistake did the player make? The player opened a pack that contains 3 professionals with a rating of at least 86, from which they can choose one player. In EA FC, this is called a “1-of-3-86+-Rare-Player-Pick.” Already after opening the first item, they had accidentally settled on the goalkeeper Sommer.
In third place awaited the much better and rarer card with Premier League TOTS player Rice. Although the player’s cursor positioning suggests that they intended to settle on Rice, they forgot to correct their initial selection.
Why did the player lose 800,000 coins? The TOTS upgrade for Rice costs around 815,000 coins on the transfer market due to his strong stats (all over 90) and 4 PlayStyle+. On the other hand, keeper Sommer from FC Lombardia (Inter Milan) is worth only about 5,000 coins (via Futbin, as of May 5, 2025).
The mistake therefore cost the player over 800,000 coins. Even though the player picks were untradeable items, the user must have been quite frustrated.
Fan gives simple tip to avoid mistakes
On Reddit, many users have reacted to the post of the unlucky player. The reactions are filled with much mockery, derision, and disbelief. Among the numerous schadenfreude-filled comments, there is also a simple, yet effective tip from a player:

User starts the fight for the “Crown of Foolishness”
Another top comment shows that the unlucky player is not alone in their mistake:

For clarification: Normally, a normal gold team worth a maximum of 5,000 coins is enough for a 5x-77+-Rare-Player-Pack. However, the player accidentally traded in a team worth about 130,000 coins.
Another user took this as an opportunity to create a funny meme in which the two victims compete for the “Crown of Foolishness”.
Who made the bigger mistake? According to the meme, user KentKainer made the even dumber mistake. However, looking at the loss value, the 800,000 lost for TOTS Rice far exceeds the approximately 130,000 coins that 90-rated teams currently cost in FC 25.
Therefore, one must clearly consider the player pick blunder surrounding TOTS Rice as the bigger mistake.
