In Baldur’s Gate 3 a player was able to depower one of the most powerful bosses using a flower. MeinMMO reveals what it’s all about.
Spoiler: The article contains story spoilers that extend to after Act 2.
Baldur’s Gate 3 offers players an almost endless range of opportunities to express their creativity. One of these opportunities led to an impressively easy victory over a feared necromancer in the second act. In this case, the player used a seemingly useless weapon – a magical flower.
To make room for the bloom, we have embedded a video from MeinMMO. It gives you three tips on how to reduce your burden:
Player tricks Balthazar with a flower
How did he manage that? It all started with a discussion about the mysterious Sussur flower from the Underdark in Act 1. It is a strange plant that can create an antimagic zone around it.
Under normal circumstances, this plant would hardly make it onto a player’s Must-have
list. The flowers tend to wilt as soon as you say goodbye to the gloomy Underdark.
However, the player Kill-bray found out on Reddit that the Sussur flowers can also survive outside the Underdark:
- The bloom must be placed in a bag or another container and kept sealed.
- He also found out that you can not only steal from NPCs to take loot from their pockets but also to secretly slip them your own items.
What was the battle against the necromancer like? His grand strategy unfolded when he found himself inside the Temple of Shar in Balthazar’s chamber, a powerful necromancer. Here he put his bold plan into action. He donated
the bag with the Sussur flower to Balthazar.
In the later fight with him (in the Night Song), Balthazar literally did nothing. He was in quite an uncomfortable position. Because of the antimagic barrier around him, his magical powers were useless.
So instead of casting spells or summoning undead minions, he ran around aimlessly and had nothing to do.
Balthazar was probably not prepared for this flowery turn.
Now the player only had to defeat the many undead creatures, which proved to be an easy fight. The biggest problem was a wizard who blinded some of my party members, but ultimately it was a straightforward fight.
Finally, what started as a playful idea evolved into a triumphant success. It is always astonishing to see what brilliant solutions players can come up with through their creativity. It shows us that it is worth taking a closer look at seemingly ordinary items. With a touch of creativity, they could be the key to victory.
There are other creative strategies to make it easier to defeat opponents: The best weapon in Baldur’s Gate 3 is a small girl, but she’s not feeling so well
