For almost four years, a player in the MMORPG World of Warcraft worked to obtain the Pendulum of Doom. Now he has finally succeeded.
What kind of item is this? In many MMORPGs, there are rare items that you can only find by chance. In World of Warcraft, the Pendulum of Doom is one of the 10 rarest items (via GameRant). The chance of obtaining it is at most 0.03%.
The two-handed axe has a damage of 124 to 187 (3.88 damage per second) and a speed of 4.00. The Pendulum of Doom requires level 39 and inflicts a deadly wound and an additional 250 to 350 damage points.
Where can you get the item? The Pendulum of Doom is a weapon that you can obtain as random loot from enemies in the Uldaman dungeon. However, the item only drops extremely rarely, making farming the Pendulum a long-term endeavor.
Nearly 4 Years Grind for an Item
How did the player obtain the item? WoW fan POROWL explains on reddit that he needed 2,000 dungeon runs in the regular World of Warcraft and another 292 runs in WoW Classic before the Pendulum of Doom finally dropped as loot.
Furthermore, he was delighted that in the same run that brought him the Pendulum in WoW Classic, he also found the headpiece Papal Fez, which is also relatively rare.
How the achievement is received: Numerous players congratulate POROWL on finally achieving his goal.
- clickrush jokingly comments (via reddit): “Now you can finally start playing the game.”
- bodin26 comments (via reddit): “You are crazy! Congratulations.”
- Silinia writes (via reddit): “Congratulations. I didn’t farm my Pendulum, I bought it for 12,000 gold for my level 39 twink.”
Why was the player so eager for the item? POROWL has set a goal that he wants to achieve with the Pendulum of Doom. He explains:
My plan regarding the Pendulum of Doom is quite simple. I will be the strongest level 39 Shaman in TBC Classic!
The Pendulum of Doom is one of the few weapons in WoW with a speed of 4.00. This, coupled with the damage, makes the axe particularly a weapon that deals extreme amounts of “burst damage,” delivering a lot of damage in as short a time as possible, especially for Warriors and Shamans.
Equipped with this weapon, POROWL is now calling on all players of the opposing Alliance to challenge him.
Furthermore, he has already found new goals. He wants to farm even more extremely rare items in WoW. But first, a break is planned.
I still haven’t found the Jackhammer, Digmaster 5000, and Entanglement of Lost Time. I might continue doing dungeon runs in Uldaman in Burning Crusade Classic, but for now, I think I will finish 8 more runs to reach a nice 300 and then take a break for a while.
