The player “touchpadwarrior” has spent 40,000 hours in World of Warcraft – and all without a mouse. A TikTok video showing his playstyle has gone viral and impresses viewers.
Who is the player? “touchpadwarrior” is a content creator on TikTok, YouTube, and Twitch. He has been playing WoW for 17 years with a touchpad and keyboard, but without a mouse. This impresses his audience.
On TikTok, he uploaded a clip showcasing his playstyle. The clip currently has 1.4 million views, over 101,000 likes, and 700 comments.
This player went viral with a Fortnite win on a moving truck, but there is actually something completely different behind it:
What is impressive about the playstyle? Typically in World of Warcraft, players use a mouse to perform various actions. It controls the camera, interacts with items and NPCs, attacks enemies, and navigates through the menu.
touchpadwarrior controls his mouse cursor with his left hand, even though he is right-handed, he says in the video. With his right hand, he executes the other commands and actions. He has set his cursor to the highest sensitivity, even in the game.
In the video, touchpadwarrior explains that he uses his left thumb to press the keys under the touchpad. With his right thumb, he dodges sideways and moves back and forth.
“Using a mouse feels clumsy now”
How did he come to this? In the comments under the TikTok video, touchpadwarrior writes: “The only computer in my parents’ house that could process the third installation CD of WoW was a laptop.”
Several users ask him why he didn’t switch to a keyboard and mouse at some point and whether it isn’t totally complicated to play like this – especially for 17 years. In the video, he says: “In my mind, it’s not complicated at all.” He has gotten used to it.
In a comment, he writes: “It’s my strange, preferred method. Using a mouse feels clumsy to me now.”
The user Tommy Lundgren comments: “The question is, how the hell do you not have problems with your thumb?” touchpadwarrior replies: “I’ve been asking myself the same question for years.”
At the end of the clip, he explains that he is not a “top-tier World of Warcraft” player and doesn’t want to be one. His goal is to make his viewers laugh, entertain them, and ensure that his viewers’ days are “a little less shit.”
