In WoW you can once again dive into the battle royale clashes of the Plunderstorm mode. Recently, a player has achieved victory as the last survivor in a way that the community celebrates.
How did the player win the match? Jolkster posted a screenshot on Reddit showing his victory in the freshly released Plunderstorm mode of World of Warcraft. As the last survivor, he was able to collect 1,856 plunder. He had to kill 0 other players to achieve this.
You read that right. Zero kills for victory in a battle royale mode that revolves around surviving against all other player characters. But how is that possible?
That’s quickly explained: Similar to other battle royale representatives, the play area in Plunderstorm shrinks progressively because a damaging storm takes up more and more area of the map. For a victory with zero kills, you just need to hope that
- a) the other players kill each other before they discover and engage you in a fight, and
- b) the last remaining competitor gets caught by the storm and dies outside the safe zone.

How does the community react to the screenshot? Nearly 3,000 upvotes and many of the over 200 comments reflect what a special achievement this is in the Plunderstorm mode.
- Anumet writes on Reddit: “There should be a title for this. Gandhi or something similar – the way of non-violence. Congratulations – I like that!”
- sagetraveler explains why some die in the storm (via Reddit): “Many people don’t want to engage in PVP and instead go into the storm.”
- Cloud_N0ne resonates with sagetraveler’s comment on Reddit: “That’s how I do it too. If I come across a player who is significantly higher level than me and I can’t escape, I just run into the storm so that they can’t get my loot. A nasty move, but it’s what comes closest to a victory.”
- kapono_dclxvi has a different, so far unsuccessful strategy (via Reddit): “Hell yes, I’ve never won, I play aggressively and make terrible decisions. High kill count, but no victories.”
- Merlin2oo2 is just one of many players who also want to win pacifically (via Reddit): “I congratulate you! That was also my goal for Plunderstorm, but I haven’t achieved it yet. I want to be the last bush standing.”
