In Path of Exile 2, you can enchant almost all items with new values to make them even more powerful. However, those who are not so lucky can easily destroy their items, as one player proves.
Which ring is it about? The player mozilla666fox recently showed on Reddit how bad things can go in Path of Exile 2 when you have bad luck. He possessed the unique ring “Ventors Gamble Gold Ring”. The piece of jewelry already had very good values:
- + 51% rarer item drops
- + 70 maximum life
- + 20 willpower
- + 39% fire resistance
- + 40% cold resistance
- + 35% lightning resistance
Such values are nearly perfect and therefore very rare. The ring was also not yet corrupted. This means it was still possible to change the values of the item, and mozilla666fox did so, with a shocking result.

Community pushes the player
How did the enchanting go? The user mozilla666fox posted his ring in the in-game chat of Path of Exile 2. But instead of congratulating him on his good item, the players urged him to enchant the item with a Vaal Orb.
With this enchantment, almost any value of the item can be changed, removed, or replaced. An enchantment with a Vaal Orb cannot be undone. The item remains corrupted. Therefore, performing the enchantment is extremely risky – and with items that have already landed in the inventory with nearly perfect values, it is more than reckless.
Pushed by the messages in the chat, mozilla666fox enchanted his ring with the aforementioned Vaal Orb. However, the end result did not turn out as desired. The new values of the item were:
- – 12% rarer item drops
- + 81 maximum life
- + 18 willpower
- – 28% cold resistance
- – 17% lightning resistance
Everything that had made the ring strong before has now turned negative. The values of the item are so weak that it is probably better to wear nothing instead of the item. In short: The once valuable ring is now scrap.
How did the community react? The gamers who had spurred him on to do this are laughing at the result. On Reddit, the community posts many memes that make fun of the player’s bad luck. The owner of the ring took it all with humor. He says that the situation still sweetened his evening:
