Player finds new content in Baldur’s Gate 3 after 1,400 hours and discovers how a fish saves the world

A player wanted to find out what happens if he disposes of a valuable item in Baldur’s Gate 3. In doing so, he discovered new game content that is only triggered this way.

A player wanted to find out what happens when you get rid of Nether Stones in every possible way. These stones are very important throughout the game, but without wanting to give away major spoilers: Without the stones, you cannot win the game.

The YouTuber and player Proxy Gate Tactician has now invested 1,400 hours to find out what happens when you get rid of these stones. In doing so, he unlocked entirely new content, as the developers at Larian Studios suspected that you could “lose” the Nether Stones.

What normally happens to the stones? If you were to lose Nether Stones under normal circumstances, the Emperor would usually either remind you of the stones or bring them directly to your stash. Or the game simply ends when the stones cannot be found.

Alternative locations if you should hide or forget the Nether Stones

What did the player do? One player has now gone a step further and placed a stone in the “Iron Throne” and then made the area inaccessible. The Iron Throne is an underwater prison that can only be accessed by a submarine. You can find the entire video about his action on YouTube:

But Larian seems to have “planned” such an action: If you “lost” the stone this way, an encounter with the Sahuagin on the nearby shore of the lower Baldur’s Gate city changes. One of the Sahuagin will now carry the stones you lost.

If you kill the Sahuagin before disposing of the stones, Old Troutman, a fisherman near the coast, will offer you the stones for three gold pieces each.

If you remove both the Sahuagin and the fisherman, your Nether Stones will be swallowed by a fish that washes up dead on the same shore and is just waiting for you to retrieve your stones. Therefore, the fish somewhat saves your game and the world.

Larian Studios seems to have assumed that players could lose the Nether Stones in strange ways.
