RAM has become very expensive. A user got lucky and received 32 GB DDR5 for under 100 euros due to a pricing error. The seller responded surprisingly: He shipped the package without canceling it due to the error.
The magazine TomsHardware reports on a user who ordered a package from the US retailer Newegg containing a processor, motherboard, cooling, and RAM. In total, he paid 86 US dollars, which is approximately 75 euros.
Thanks to a pricing error, the user only pays 75 euros for a hardware package with 32 GB RAM
What exactly did the user do? The person coldly exploited a pricing error from the provider. Because for certain combinations, it is possible to save a few dollars on each product. That’s not unusual at first.
However, the discount he received at the end for the combination was unusual. When he added a 32 GB RAM kit, the price for the entire package dropped to 86.98 US dollars: Normally, he would have paid nearly 1,000 US dollars at current prices.
The remaining hardware is not particularly unusual with a Ryzen 5 7600X and a Gigabyte B850M Eagle motherboard.
What happened next? Newegg fixed the error about 10 minutes later. It is unknown how many people benefited from the error.
However, it is surprising that Newegg did not cancel the user’s order and actually shipped it. Because this option certainly existed for Newegg to cancel the order, declare it invalid, and refer to the pricing error.
A gamer orders RAM and is soon confronted with a new invoice. Accordingly, he is very angry and disappointed. The community considers such behavior illegal and urges the affected person to contact consumer protection: Gamer orders RAM: The seller delays shipping to significantly raise the price shortly thereafter
