The Hell Hordes are currently the “hot shit” in Diablo 4. It’s simply fun to face the waves of monsters and earn valuable rewards at the end. One player even received so much gold that the hack & slash adventure almost crashed.
What happened to the Diablo 4 fan? On reddit, CaineMoon shared a screenshot showing the final ether balance after the player successfully completed nine waves of the Hell Hordes at Tier 7 with two revives remaining.
When he converted the 1,110 “Burning Ether” into gold, Blizzard’s hack & slash adventure apparently hit its limits and “almost crashed”. In the end, a substantial 148 million gold ended up in the pockets of the Hell Hordes conqueror. Goodbye, gold problems!

Gold sellers hate this trick
How does the community react to the enormous gold amount? Many Diablo 4 fans are excited in the comments that the Hell Hordes are so rewarding. This confirms their previous feedback on the recent changes to the feature.
- DaftWarrior writes (via reddit): “We are collapsing the market [for gold sellers, editor’s note]. We are literally printing gold, like JPow.” By the way, JPow refers to Jerome Powell, the current president of the Federal Reserve (more info on de.wikipedia.org).
- kuhas adds (via reddit): “Gold sellers hate this simple trick.”
- Schniiic even suspects a targeted measure against gold sellers by Blizzard (via reddit): “I actually believe that Blizzard didn’t do this just for us, but also to combat gold sellers.”
- hey_im_cool is no longer interested in Hell Hordes (via reddit): “My laptop crashed when I opened the emote wheel. I think I’ll avoid this content.”
- Helpful_Cry_8227 had similar experiences (via reddit): “I did a tier 5, got 63 million, and it also almost crashed my game. The gold was picked up immediately and a huge stack of scrolls was left.”
Since the Hell Hordes are so rewarding, gold has likely lost its bottleneck role for crafting. They are also worth it not only for farming gold, but also for loot and materials.
