The 1.14 update of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was huge with Season 2 and new weapons, maps, and modes. But under the radar, Infinity Ward made another change that is causing a stir.
What was changed? The change concerns the thermal scope. There were some inconsistencies before the update. Now, the visibility of the enemy through the scope has been adjusted.
It seems that the “Cold-Blooded” perk has also been affected. This received a buff and makes players even less visible.
Improved Thermal Scope – Cold-Blooded Perk Buffed
A player reports: On Reddit, the player MrNobodyX3 shows a clip from his game. He demonstrates the thermal scope in 4 different situations.
These are the changes: As shown by the player, the outlines of the enemy have become better in normal use and when used with smoke.
Especially in the smoke, it was previously a bit more difficult to spot enemies with this scope before the patch. Now the outlines are clearer and you can see the enemy quite well.
The thermal scope was also somewhat useless on particularly bright maps. Often, you could hardly see enemies or only very difficult. However, the screenshots now show that the scope can also be used on bright maps. After all, the player is looking directly into the brightness and can see everything.
This perk has been improved: The thermal scope will face even greater problems with the “Cold-Blooded” perk in the future. This already made it difficult for the thermal scope to see the player.
Now, however, the enemy can hardly be recognized through the scope. There is a risk that you may simply overlook cold-blooded soldiers. The perk has received a substantial buff.
This change is particularly interesting: The major update for Season 2 generated a lot of buzz. New weapons, modes, and maps were introduced. Various buffs and nerfs were discussed, but the change to the thermal scope had not been mentioned yet.
It’s now even more interesting that an astute player has identified this change. The change makes the scope significantly more usable, and some players will certainly return to using the scope.
