Helicopters are powerful vehicles in Call of Duty: Warzone. You can slice through enemies with them, traverse the map quickly, and sometimes the aircraft can even serve as bombs. However, there is a zone on Rebirth Island that apparently has something against the helos – if you land here, your match could end.
Helicopters have been in the game since the launch of Call of Duty: Warzone and are the best way to zip around quickly. If you have a Trophy System installed in the back seat, you might be somewhat safe from enemy rockets and can enjoy the view on the way to your objective.
On the small map Rebirth Island, the paths are not as long as in the large Verdansk – the helos are still popular, as they deliver one-hit kills. However, Rebirth Island also fights back against the speedy flyers. There apparently is a zone on the island where helicopters randomly explode without any external interference.
Your helos are not safe on Rebirth Island
What does that look like? The small YouTuber “Rito Rhymes” has uploaded a compilation of his random heli kills:
Over the 2:30 minutes, many deaths related to an exploding helicopter can be seen. At one point, it even takes out an entire team because Rito lands with his whole squad in the dangerous heli zone.
In the kill feed, there is no indication of all the displayed heli deaths. Normally, it always shows when a player goes down or gets completely killed. The random deaths do not only happen to Rito – there are also scenes where a teammate or an opponent is trolled by the nasty anti-heli zone.

How long has this bug been in the game? The player spoke with the US news site “Dexerto” and said that the bug has been in the game since the release of Rebirth Island, which would be since December 2020. He has already sent a good dozen bug reports to the official channels, but according to him, support did not want to acknowledge this bug.
Rito was so frustrated by this that he took matters into his own hands – he created the map and the video to prevent others from having the bad experience.
How likely is it that my heli will explode in the zone? If you land or get in there – assume that you will lose the heli and your life. The chance does not seem to be 100%, but when we tested the bug ourselves, the helicopter exploded every time upon landing.
Unlike the video above, however, we had an entry in the kill feed when the heli took us out. Perhaps a change that just recently came into play.
That does not make the zone any less dangerous – keep your helos as far away from the marked areas as possible.
Will this stay like this? The bug has apparently been in the game for months, and currently, no statements from the developers regarding a fix can be found. For now, you should avoid the zone with your helos.
However, the problem is gaining notoriety through the publications, and the Warzone creators may now be paying attention to the anti-heli zone and defuse the area.
