A player buys a new RTX 4090 and installs it in his gaming PC. But he is unable to connect it to his monitor. The community is quite astonished when they see the problem the owner is facing.
A player has built a PC and purchased an expensive RTX 4090 for it. This remains one of the fastest graphics cards you can buy.
However, he quickly faces the problem that he cannot connect his graphics card to his monitor at all. He reports this to a friend, who shares his image on Reddit. But it is not the fact that he cannot find the connection that causes astonishment, but the fact that he was able to install his graphics card at all.
He only noticed the whole issue when he realized that he had very few graphics settings available in games. When he then wanted to plug the HDMI cable from the monitor into the graphics card, he could not find the connection.
Forgot the slot cover but still successfully installed the graphics card
What went wrong? When installing a graphics card in a new computer, you usually have to remove the slot cover. Slot covers shield openings in the case at the expansion card slots. The covers also protect your PC from dirt getting inside.
However, if you want to install an expansion card, such as a graphics card, Wi-Fi card, or sound card into a PCIe slot in your computer, you also need to remove the corresponding slot cover. Otherwise, you won’t be able to use the card’s connections, nor will the card be properly seated in the case.
And it is exactly this last point that causes disbelief in the community. Many are wondering: How did the player manage to install his graphics card without removing the cover?
I am rather impressed by the fact that the GPU clicks in like that, and even more if he actually screwed it in.
How did the situation turn out? The graphics card survived the strange action unscathed, and the user rushed to help his friend to free the computer from the annoying slot covers. In the worst case, the user could have bent his graphics card or even damaged the PCIe connection.
