In Destiny 2, Warlocks no longer want to always be the healers. Therefore, a boycott is being called for until there is more respect, and as long as only a nerfed class is played.
The Guardians are reacting strongly: In recent days, a call for a strike is circulating through the Destiny community. It involves Warlocks feeling unfairly treated – by Bungie but also by their fellow players.
As a last resort, Warlocks feel pressured to play a nerfed class in Season 13 and to stop helping others.
There’s even a battle cry created under #paintdestinypurple on Twitter. Over 14,000 users agree with reddit user elpezmuerto in his passionate plea for a boycott. The post has now (15.02.2021) been awarded numerous accolades and nearly 2,000 comments are actively discussing the demands.
What is the demand? All Warlocks out there are being urged to only use the Voidwalker subclass – specifically: Nova Warp. They should play Nova Warp in all activities, even if they are overrun and beaten.
This teleporting class has been considered nerfed for a long time and is not truly useful anywhere.
According to user elpezmuerto, Warlocks complain week after week about being limited to one subclass or rather role. The middle Solar subclass Dawnblade (Well of Radiance) is meant, which is the most outstanding support class in Destiny 2.
“What do you have to lose by using Nova Warp?”
This is the goal: By renouncing the empowering Well and the self-sacrifice for the weak Nova Warp, they want to achieve two things:
- All other Guardians should feel what it’s like to play Destiny 2 without a healer. The ungrateful Hunters and Titans do not appreciate what the team player Warlocks always do for them. It’s about recognition from fellow players.
- They want to “increase the usage rate of Nova Warp.” Because then Bungie will buff the other Warlock classes. Normally, a nerf accompanies the statistically strong class, but since Nova Warp is already dead, they have nothing to lose.
With this action, they want to stop only when Bungie explicitly addresses improvements for Warlocks in a TWaB (the weekly blog post).
Additionally, it is considered particularly unfair that the powerful Stasis Warlock was nerfed just a week after its release. However, Stasis Hunters and Titans continue to terrorize the PvP freely. It’s bitter that Hunters even received a buff for Season 13. It concerns the Shurikens – and that the much-anticipated nerf was much too lenient.

A harder Destiny 2 without the help of Warlocks?
This is why Warlocks are important in PvE: When it comes to endgame or challenging group activities, Warlocks are often compelled to play the Well of Radiance. This specialization allows healing others, provides buffs to the team, and creates a field around the Warlock with the Super, where a lot of damage is mitigated and significant damage can be dealt over time.
A few examples of what the Destiny world would look like without healers:
- Many teams defeat the final raid boss from the Deep Stone Crypt in one phase because a brave Warlock places their Well and equips the Lunafaction Boots. Elpezmuerto rhetorically asks how many Guardians owe their “Eyes of Tomorrow” rocket launcher to these Warlocks.
- In flawless dungeon or raid runs for titles and rare emblems, it would be a shame if suddenly there were no healers left. One would have to be careful themselves.
- Without the Dawnblade with Phoenix Protocol in top positions, it would be like an extra hard mode.
There would be fewer constraints for Hunters and Titans. The Titan Bubble is useful, but in the end, it will always be the Well. Since Stasis CC brought and powerful Exotics deal heavy damage, no one really needs a Hunter arrow or the Golden Gun with Celestial Nighthawk anymore.
This is how the community responds to the rage of Warlocks
The call for a strike is receiving a lot of support. In the comments, Guardians also make fun of the fact that Bungie will find a way to further nerf Nova Warp.
A few cheeky Guardians write that Nova Warp does have its use: “You don’t really need Super energy anyway. You could sacrifice the energy for finishers and supply the team with heavy ammo.” Since team play is the focus here, it is questionable whether this pleases the initiator.
In general, the post is also used to complain again about the poor balance between the old Light classes and the new dark Stasis classes.
