In Counter Strike: Global Offensive there seems to be a new record regarding the sale of skins: A rare weapon skin is said to have sold for a six-figure amount.
Collector probably sets new record: According to CS:GO trading expert “ohnePixel” on Twitter, a collector from China wants to sell this skin for 130,000 dollars. He purchased this skin for “somewhat less” – “ohnePixel” estimates it to be around 100,000 dollars.
Even at 100,000 dollars, it is still a new sales record in CS:GO, according to “ohnePixel”.
Rare stickers make skin expensive
What kind of skin is this? The skin is a “StatTrak M4A4|Howl” that is adorned with 4 iBUYPOWER Katowice 14 stickers. These stickers were created to celebrate the “2014 ES One Katowice CS:GO Championship” and are offered on the community market (via Steam) for about 1,000 to 1,400 dollars each. The holo variant is among the most expensive stickers and goes for over 15,000 dollars each (via Dexerto).
However, these four stickers seem to have transformed the skin into perhaps the most expensive skin in CS:GO. For comparison: A StatTrak M4A4 Howl without these stickers is said to cost about 5,000 dollars, which is still a lot, but not comparable.

The currently most expensive skin is said to be the Souvenir AWP Dragon Lore, which is going for 19,632 dollars (via Dexerto).
How unusual is this? Considering how much money skins usually cost in ingame shops, such numbers are, of course, extremely out of the ordinary. However, high prices are repeatedly paid in CS:GO. New skins changed owners for a lot of money last November.
And also that collectors sometimes pay extraordinarily high prices for skins is not a first-time occurrence. There is also an example from CS:GO: In 2018, someone spent over 60,000 dollars for a “Dragon Lore” skin. Even that is still not even half of what the player wants for the M4 skin now.
