Starfield surprised a player with a bounty hunting mission that had an unexpected twist.
Starfield offers, in addition to a surprisingly short main story, plenty of side quests, random events, and other activities that should keep players engaged for countless hours. Among the numerous activities of the role-playing game are various bulletin boards where missions are posted.
These mission boards feature tasks such as exploring specific planets or finding a special ecosystem. Additionally, there are also some bounty hunts where players are supposed to take out criminals.
One such bounty hunt was meant to surprise a player with an unexpected twist.
What was that mission about? As the Reddit user “thefluffyburrito” wrote on the platform, he played a bounty hunting mission in which he was supposed to eliminate a mining operation run by the Spacers (via Reddit).
Spacers are independent and unorganized criminals in Starfield who cause mayhem in small groups in space. They often loot and occupy abandoned outposts and are hostile towards outsiders.
Spacers are rarely interested in aggressive raids.
Why was the player surprised? Throughout the mission, the player showed no mercy and took out the Spacers one by one. After defeating the final enemy, he found the keys to the living quarters of the Spacers on him.
He wondered why Spacers had established living quarters in an abandoned mine and further investigated the site. Shortly after, he came across a small facility, opened its door, and discovered some notes from the Spacers inside.
The Spacers apparently intended to build a legal life with the mine and leave their criminal past behind. According to the Reddit user, some of the notes contained sentences like:
- “I can’t wait until we get this old mining operation up and running so we can really get started.”
- “I’m so glad we’re finally not the bad guys anymore.”
Thus, the player took down people who no longer wanted to be bad, no longer wanted to be criminals. It was not a criminal mining operation run by Spacers, but honest work – or at least an attempt at it.
