It’s once again time for our MeinMMO format “MMORPG News in Two Minutes.” We summarize the most important news around the best genre in the world. Look forward to a free promotion for Final Fantasy XIV, new updates for GW2 and Lost Ark, as well as exciting new releases.
The highlights of the week:
- The legendary German WoW audio play Allimania is making a comeback in the form of a reboot!
- On May 21, Cataclysm Classic launched. Less than three hours after the launch of the new Classic expansion, the first player had already reached level 85. Behind this world-first achievement is an exciting revenge story.
- In WoW Remix: Mists of Pandaria, things are turbulent: A player was able to become so powerful that they solo downed raid bosses.
- For Guild Wars 2, the Midnight King update was released on May 21, 2024 – featuring three new story chapters, a fractal dungeon, and much more.
A podcast featuring four former Blizzard employees is making waves. Two of the most exciting anecdotes:
- Those who played too much WoW at work were fired.
- A former German Blizzard employee claims that he had a fake account for years to insult WoW users in the forum.

- A WoW player has spent 40,368 hours in Azeroth so far, playing the MMORPG with a touchpad.
- On June 3, 2024, the new chapter Gold Road for The Elder Scrolls Online is set to be released. In a preview, the developers introduced the new raid and the world event of the West Marshes. Additionally, celebrations for the explorers are currently underway.
- From May 23 to June 20, there will be a free login campaign for Final Fantasy XIV. Additionally, on May 23, the Fall Guys collaboration started (via Lodestone).

- The Secret World is one of the best story MMORPGs, yet is only played by about 50 fans on Steam.
- With Kaetram, an MMORPG has been released on Steam that is reminiscent of Terraria with its charming 2D pixel look and explorative underground world. Many of the initial user reviews are positive.

- With Teek and Tormax, two new Everquest servers have been launched for All-Access members (via official website).

- Publisher and developer Smilegate (Lost Ark) has released a teaser trailer for the new MMORPG Lord Nine.
- Throne and Liberty appears to be falling significantly short of expectations in South Korea, with no figures reported by publisher NCSoft in the last financial report. There is still no concrete update for the western release.
- Chrono Odyssey, on the other hand, appears to be performing much better. A small test was recently conducted for the AAA MMORPG, with 65 selected genre veterans participating. It is said to have “probably the best graphics on the market.”.
- The next alpha test for Bitcraft is planned for June (via X).
- The one-developer project Slay Together will never leave early access, as announced by the responsible developer via Steam. The free-to-play MMORPG is set to disappear from the distribution platform soon.
