Before Destiny 2 launches the modern DLC “Lightfall”, you can temporarily play the current “The Witch Queen” DLC for free. But you have to hurry, as you only have this weekend to try out the space loot shooter and secure the best items of the expansion permanently.
What is now free in Destiny 2? As Bungie announced in the game and on the official Twitter account, all players can once again dive into the standard version of the “The Witch Queen” DLC for free before the launch of Lightfall.
The free weekend is available for Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, MS Store, and Epic Games and starts on February 23 at 6:00 PM.
You have this much time to play the “The Witch Queen” DLC for free:
- The free weekend starts on all platforms today, on February 23 at 6:00 PM
- For Xbox players, the free weekend ends on February 26, 2023, at 08:59 AM.
- On the platforms PlayStation, Steam, MS Store, and Epic Games you have a little more time. Here the free weekend ends on February 27 at 6:00 PM.
Until then, you can experience Savathun’s story and also get her Exotics. After that, the servers will go offline for 24 hours before the new expansion “Lightfall” launches. We have already summarized the info about the Lightfall preload for you.
Our video gives you an insight into what to expect in Witch Queen:
How can I participate? For Xbox, interested Guardians just need to search for “Destiny 2 The Witch Queen” in their platform store to gain access. Players on PlayStation, Steam, Epic Games, and MS Store only need to log into the game, and the content of the “The Witch Queen” DLC will be available automatically.
No additional content needs to be downloaded. The Witch Queen Standard Edition will simply be unlocked in your installed game.
Extra benefits for PlayStation Plus subscribers: The free offer also currently applies to the DLC “Beyond Light”. This expansion is still available for PlayStation Plus subscribers and grants free access to unlocking the Stasis ice ability. Just remember to redeem this before March 6, 2023.
14 Exotics await you in the free weekend of Witch Queen
Many consider the Witch Queen expansion to be one of the best campaigns that Destiny 2 has offered recently. And now you can explore Savathun’s Throne World for free.
If you’ve been considering jumping back into Destiny 2 with Lightfall, you shouldn’t miss out on this grand and exciting story. This also helps to better understand some connections in Lightfall.
Here’s everything you can play in the Standard Edition:
- You can play through the entire Legendary campaign and explore the Urquell activity
- Complete the Exo Quest for the weapon with the highest burst damage in the game, the grenade launcher “The Parasite”
- Meet Rhulk in the Raid “The Oath of the Student” and get kicked by him
The highlight is that you can keep 14 DLC Exotics that you earn during the free weekend forever. However, you need to be quick.
- Great Overture – Machine Gun
- Osteo Striga – Submachine Gun
- The Parasite – Grenade Launcher
- Loreley Splendor Helm – Titan Headgear
- Raureif-Z – Hunter Arms
- Secant Filaments – Warlock Legs
- Osmiomancy Gloves – Warlock Arms
- Fallen Sunstar – Warlock Headgear
- Caliban’s Hand – Hunter Arms
- Harnisch des Jagdfalken – Hunter Chest Protection
- Group Pressure – “Oath of the Student” Raid Exotic
- Exo-Spears for each class (Titan, Warlock, Hunter)
What about crafted Witch Queen weapons? All crafted Witch Queen weapons are still usable after the free offer ends, but they cannot be remade or reshaped unless you own the DLC.
Will you take the offer and take a round through Savathun’s world before she ends her DLC year on February 28? Or are you currently not interested in Destiny 2? We would love to read your response in the comments.
