Little is heard from the online shooter Planetside 2 (PC, PS4), but the developers continue to work on the game in 2018 and have now released an update.
The new update for Planetside 2 introduces new gameplay elements, weapons, and changes to the building system.

Update brings changes
Air Anomaly. The Battle for the Continents in Planetside 2 has been expanded with a new gameplay element: the Air Anomalies. When the Warpgates of a continent are loaded, a 30-minute timer starts during which you must capture as many facilities of a specific type in the vicinity as possible. During this time, aircraft spawn for free. The exact type of event is determined randomly.
Changes to the Building System. The building system has been significantly altered to provide more interaction for builders and less frustration for attackers. Most building objects now cost between 50% and 70% less Cortium, which is meant to reduce the initial barrier to building a base. Additionally, you can now build new objects like the “Flail,” which sends four anti-tank projectiles to a specific location. The “Pain Spire” can damage nearby infantry and MAX units, while the “Routing Spire” serves as a terminal from which players can receive a spawn point.
New Weapons. New rifles have been introduced that allow slow shots with high accuracy at medium to long range. The weapons include the MG-HBR1 Dragoon (Terran Republic), the MGR-M1 Bishop (New Conglomerate), and the VE-LR Obelisk (Vanu Sovereignty). The rifles are available for all classes.
Moreover, the update for Planetside 2 introduces further smaller optimizations and adjustments in the online shooter.
