Fortnite: Battle Royale has a new type of cosmetics in Season 6: Pets. But what are these cute little creatures? What are they good for, how do you get them, and what happens if you die?
What are the Pets in Fortnite? In Season 6 Epic has greatly promoted Pets as new items in the game. They are basically just animated back accessories that show a cute little creature.
What are the Pets actually good for?
What can the Pets do? Nothing. They look cute and react dynamically to game situations. They become threatening when a fight happens and look worried when you go down.
Do the Pets have any advantages or disadvantages in the game? No, they are purely cosmetic. The sounds they make are only audible to you and your teammates. Moreover, the animals only growl when the fight has already begun.
Pets are therefore also not an early warning system. And no, the Pets really stay permanently in their basket on your back. They do not come out to fetch you ammo or items. Pets are really just decoration.
How many Pets are there? Currently, at the start of Season 6, there are three Pets:
- The Dog “Wuffel”
- The Chameleon “Camo”
- The Dragon “Schuppi”
Each of these little creatures is available in three color versions that you have to unlock gradually.
How do I get the Pets? The three animals mentioned above can only be obtained through the Battle Pass of Season 6. You need the paid version for 950 V-Bucks (9.50 Euros).
- Wuffel is available from Level 12
- Camo from Level 29
- Schuppi is available from Level 43
Epic may later offer more Pets in the shop or as promo actions.
What happens to the Pets if you die? Since the little creatures are so cute, some players feel uneasy taking the Pets with them. After all, you are shooting around in Fortnite and the poor animals can get caught in the crossfire.
Especially when you go down in a team or duo game, the Pet vigilantly growls over your crawling avatar.
And if someone comes along with a shotgun or pickaxe and knocks you out of the game along with the animal, it’s quite a brutal sight.
But anyone who looks closely knows that in Fortnite you never really die. You are just teleported to safety when you supposedly get hit. This also applies to the little creature, which of course is not brutally chopped up, blown up, or shot through.
