The animal rights organization PETA has called for the streaming service Twitch to ban a female streamer. A clip went viral showing her dog sniffing the streamer in the crotch. Alinity rejects the allegations: For her, it is just a dog doing dog things.
Who is it about? It’s about the Twitch streamer Alinity Divine. Last year, she predominantly played Apex Legends, but also World of Warcraft and Overwatch. On Twitch, she can often be found in the “Just Chatting” category.
A trademark of her streams is that she is often seen with her dogs and cats. Alinity currently has nearly one million followers on Twitch.

PETA calls it “Cruelty”
This is what PETA accuses her of: In recent days, there has been a stir about Alinity. A clip circulated in which she did a handstand. Her white dog, Luna, sniffed her in the crotch during the act.
This clip caused an uproar because many felt that the streamer tolerated the dog’s sniffing for too long. Several Twitter users urged PETA to intervene. That would be “animal abuse”.
Twitch is doing nothing about animal cruelty; now PETA has to step in.
PETA then actually responded on Twitter: “We are aware of this cruelty and have demanded Twitch remove her from the platform.”
However, this tweet has now been deleted again. It is not known whether PETA has also withdrawn its demand that Twitch ban Alinity.
Streamer calls the demand “Ridiculous”
This is what the streamer says about it: She cannot understand the uproar at all. She says she did a handstand and did not even notice that the dog came. When she then noticed him, she tried to push him away with her legs.
She considers the uproar to be ridiculous.
Alinity believes the dog’s interest in her crotch is due to the fact that dogs gather information about what is going on through their sense of smell. At that time, she had her period. Therefore, she did not notice the dog immediately: the panty liner was too thick.
According to Alinity, she streams six times a week, has her period 12 times a year, so she would be on air at least 48 times a year while having her period. The dog reacts to that. He does the same with other women.
People are making too big of a deal out of it. It is just a dog doing dog things.
A roughly 4-minute compilation of clips with Alinity and her dog circulated online, in which the dog seeks the streamer’s company and she reprimands him repeatedly.
Alinity says: People must have combed through her streams for a long time to find suitable scenes. In one clip, you can still see the Christmas tree from 2018.
This is what it’s about:
Three things come together:
- It is the conflict over women on Twitch and their sexuality. Twitch is primarily a gaming platform: the biggest Twitch stars are almost all men (Pokimane is an exception). Female streamers like Alinity are accused of securing views and donations through their sexuality.
- Especially topics like animals are particularly sensitive and cause a stir on social media.
- And especially Alinity is already in focus. In July, she was accused of being too rough with her pets. A director from Twitch said he would ban Alinity if he could.
In discussions about who gets banned on Twitch and who does not, Alinity’s name comes up repeatedly, questioning what she can get away with. People accuse Twitch of being lenient with her while punishing other streamers for every perceived minor infraction with a ban.
