The new episode of Living World Season 4 brought players of Guild Wars 2 the Sun Refuge. This personal instance serves as a quest hub and can be expanded over time. However, the housing features that some players hoped for are completely absent.
What is the Sun Refuge? The Sun Refuge is a new personal instance that looks slightly different depending on the stage of development. At first, it is an abandoned place. Over time, more and more life returns.
In the end, you will have some personal achievements and members of our hero group that decorate the instance. Additionally, there is a special armor that players can only obtain through the refuge.
This is what players say: Some players hoped for an instance that they could customize after the announcement. But so far, such content is completely missing.

ArenaNet’s further plans for the instance: In the Guild Wars 2 Forum, some players have already asked what is planned for the instance in the future. Developer Kirk Williford has bad news for the players. The instance was an experiment, and for now, there are no further major plans for expansion.
However, if time allows and the situation is right, then at least small changes to the Sun Refuge could be made, Williford concluded.
Conquest and expansion of the Sun Refuge
How do I get the new instance? For the Sun Refuge, you need the new episode “Our Guiding Star“. You will receive this automatically when you log into the game. To play this episode, you must own the expansion “Path of Fire“.
After unlocking the episode, you need to play the first two story chapters. The first chapter takes you to the new map “Jahai Bluffs”, while the second chapter ends with you being directed to the instance.
Upon arrival, you will first conquer it from spiders and then continue the story. The first version of the refuge is quite barren and empty.
How do I expand the Sun Refuge? The instance undergoes initial development as the story progresses. Even during your second visit, it will look a bit brighter and livelier. With the completion of the story of “Our Guiding Star,” new successes will unlock that you need to complete for expansion.
The overarching achievement is called “Full House” and requires you to complete eight collections. For these collections, you must complete tasks in both the new map and the old areas of Path of Fire.
With each individual achievement, the instance changes slightly. For the “Reading Marathon,” for example, you need to collect books that will later be found in the refuge. Once you have completed all eight collections, the achievement “Full House” is also finished.
A new armor set with special effects
What advantages does the instance bring me? The instance includes two main features. On one hand, you receive a new unique armor. The first version named “Elegy” is hidden behind a collection that is also needed for “Full House.”
The second upgraded version “Requiem” can then be unlocked immediately afterwards. Both armor sets are identical in basic structure, but the second version contains special effects.
On the other hand, the Sun Refuge is interesting for achievement hunters who can earn many new points through it. In addition to the collections, there are two further achievements. For the first, you need to find a diving mask and jump into a waterhole.
For the second, you need to find four scattered fragments in the instance and touch them within two minutes. Overall, the instance brings you 64 new achievement points.
