A man is invited to a job interview at a company. However, they have a very strange request for the interview. The applicant declines the interview, as a better option arises.
A man had applied for a job at a company. After a brief discussion over the phone, he was invited for a personal interview with the owner. But “then it got strange,” explained the applicant.
What was the request? The man, who has a degree in computer science, explained (via genbeta.com):
They called me back within ten minutes to confirm that the owner would be available for the interview and to inform me that I had to bring a half-chilled Starbucks coffee (without sugar) to the interview.
However, according to the applicant, that was not all. Furthermore, he says, “they also asked me about my nationality, the nationality of my parents, and my age.”

How did the applicant react? He stated that he actually considered attending the interview with the strange requirements. But he was lucky in misfortune: Shortly after, another company he had applied to got in touch, and the interaction there was more natural and without coffee.
And he added: To reject or hire a person based on their nationality is illegal in California, where he lives.
How did the company react to the rejection? The applicant posted two private messages about the rejection. And the employee of the company explained to him that he had behaved unprofessionally and was casting him in a poor light before the owner of the company. Whether there were any further consequences for the company or the employed staff is not known.
