Many MMOs provide their players with very detailed character creators and players spend a lot of time just on this feature. Do you do that too?
Each of us has to go through this when playing the new MMOs: The character editor. You start the client, there’s a nice opening sequence, and then it begins: Define your character’s appearance.
For some players, this has become a ritual. They take extra time to try out the many different options and create the perfect character for themselves. And they need this time as well.
Some MMOs overwhelm their players with various customization options. Games like Black Desert Online are known for allowing you to change almost every muscle of the character so that the face and body type look exactly how the player wants them to.
However, there are also players for whom the appearance of their character is not that important. For example, because they want to start the actual gameplay faster.
So tell us:
- How much time do you spend in MMOs on the character editor?
- Does your character need to look exactly perfect, or is it secondary?
- Is it important to you that the editor offers many different options?
- Options for changing appearance later often cost real money in MMOs. Do you still use them if you want to customize something?

In Black Desert Mobile, the detailed character editor even leads to confusion:
