In the new dungeon of Destiny 2, PC players seem to die randomly. We will reveal the reason and have a solution ready to ensure the Flawless Run works.
What this activity is about: The new dungeon “Pit of Heresy” has been live since the last major content update. In this PvE activity, you fight your way through the cursed abyss under the Scarlet Fortress with up to two other Guardians.
In the new dungeon, alongside top gear, the new exotic machine gun Xenophage is waiting for you. The Pit of Heresy is well received by players. In addition to challenging boss fights and jump and switch puzzles, a great atmosphere awaits the Guardians.

What is the problem in the dungeon? As much fun as the new activity is – it is currently causing frustration for some players. When changing areas or using an elevator, sudden death seems to occur randomly at times.
This is particularly annoying, as many Guardians are attempting the so-called Flawless Runs. During the entire activity, you must not die. This extra difficult challenge is also necessary for a title triumph.
Who is affected? Only players of the PC version of Destiny 2 are affected by the problem. Without any recognizable reason, such as gunfire or fall damage, the Guardians just collapse. You can see the issue in this short YouTube video.
How to be safe
This is the solution: The frame rate and resolution have been identified as disrupting factors. On PC, unlike the console versions, Destiny 2 can be played at more than 30 FPS (frames per second). Detailed graphics settings can also be adjusted – provided you have a sufficiently powerful machine.
To safely switch between the areas of the dungeon, PC players should cap their FPS at 30 frames per second and set the resolution to a maximum of 1920×1080.
These solutions come from a Twitter post by the well-known player Gigz. This workaround has also been confirmed by Bungie employee Andrew Hopps.
Bungie is hopefully already working on a solution. But until then, PC Guardians should throttle their compute power a little to avoid jeopardizing their Flawless Run attempts.
