Keyboard Purchase Recommendations
As in the article about headphones and microphones, this buying guide is only meant to take up a small part of this article. Ultimately, it is always an individual decision which device is the right one.
Cherry DW 3000 (€20)
Cherry, the manufacturer of the respective keys, offers its own keyboards. This is a flat keyboard, so it is not mechanical, but Rubberdome. It is wireless, and a mouse is also included. If you don’t want to spend much money, you get a device that is at least very durable.
Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Desktop 4000 (€40)
A reasonably priced ergonomic keyboard. It has a good sound but is quite large and takes up a lot of space on the desk. This pushes the mouse out of the way. Another disadvantage is the wrist rest made of artificial leather, which can be somewhat uncomfortable in the summer.
Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic (€60)
The Sculpt Ergonomic from Microsoft is better. Thanks to the standalone numeric keypad, it is significantly narrower than the Natural Ergonomic. For €60, it is a very good ergonomic keyboard.
Cherry G80-3850 (€60-75)
This model is relatively minimalist and does not offer many features. However, you have the freedom to choose whether to use MX-Blacks, MX-Blues, MX-Browns, or MX-Reds. Ghosting is possible but unlikely since more than 14 keys would need to be pressed simultaneously.
Razer BlackWidow (€100-160)
Anyone looking for macro keys and backlighting can purchase one of the BlackWidow models from Razer, which are among the most popular gaming keyboards. They use MX-Blues.
The Keyboard 4 Professional (€170)
The high price is not justified by many extravagant features but by its quality. No high-gloss lacquer, precise key travel, and better sound thanks to the aluminum housing. MX-Browns are used. One can view the device as an improved or optimized version of the Cherry G80-3850.
